Got told I am much bigger than someone's daughter who is 24 weeks (3 weeks further on than me) but that is probably because she has a very slim build.....

Don't think am that big, think about average actually....

My SIL is VERY relieved that we're having a boy this time (she really couldn't handle it when we had DD) & keeps saying 'It's definately a boy bump this time' - I look exactly the same as I did with DD!!

The other one that makes me laugh is..

'You're all baby' - Well I'm not half baby half washing machine am I FFS

The buying a test at 36 weeks joke made me laugh, but my sister actually did something similar
she was about 6-28 weeks pregnant (unmarried, living at home, 1976, in denial)
goes to GP, "i think need a pregnancy test"
he deadpans her onto his couch, takes one look at the bump, checks it is a baby, just to be on the safe side
"no, i don't think you do".

minouminou · 03/07/2008 14:53

soz...26-28 weeks, that should read

bohemianbint · 03/07/2008 15:05

Last time my (childless) friend told me when I was about 35 weeks it would be good when I got my hypnobirthing homebirth wacky hippy ideas out of the way, and that I would be begging for an epidural and happy to have the next one in hospital.

Well, ha - had the first one at home with just g&a in 4 hours and am aiming for the same again with this one, so there! Love how everyone wants to tell you how it's going to be the most hideous thing ever...

Phew its not just me then!

The thing that annoys me is MIL constantly telling me how the babies are going to kick me in the ribs and its gonna be SO painful, that i'm gonna be fat like the rest of the family (i really think she resents me being a normal weight) and how much me and DP are going to need her help when the babies arrive.

I'm having triplets - I know how hard its going to be, I know we will need help and yes my bump is going to be huge what else would I expect carrying 3??!!

She also talks about the babies as 'our babies' and has promised everyone from her work collegues to her local bank staff that she will bring the babies in so everyone can look at them.

ARGH!

micci25 · 03/07/2008 23:56

mine was when i was heavily pg with dd1. by a nurse from my new gp surgery
"you are very overweight would you like to join our weightloss plan?"
"wont i just lose weight once the baby is born? and i thought you couldnt diet whilst pg?"
"oh sorry are you pregnant? i didnt realise are you far along?"
"erm, i should have given birth 3 days ago" i had a huge bump!!!

and in a cafe with dd1 also!
"mushroom omlette please"
"your not meant to raw eggs while your pregnant"
"i dont like raw omlettes anyway, could you fry it for me or is that extra?"

My favorite was when I was in labor with ds1 my sister came to the hospital to spend some time with me, she walks in and says, "So are you dying of pain yet?" The nurse in the room showed her the way out looked at me and said, "I'm sorry you just don't need that kind of energy right now"

thumbwitch · 04/07/2008 02:19

My mum's initial reaction to being shown the first scan of DS was, I think, meant to be humorous but kind of missed the mark - "oh no, not a 6th grandchild". Ouch.

All of my bosses managed to make some kind of inappropriate/rude comment, the best being:

"Do you know how it happened?"

JessJess3908 · 04/07/2008 10:32

Last night...

uncle: you're arms are getting fat
me: yes but i'm planning on losing weight after the baby's here. When are you planning on growing your hair back?
uncle:

Very mean of me, I know, but I couldn't help it - it was the first time i'd thought of a decent come back.

Pinkglow · 04/07/2008 10:40

my worst one was DHs nan to my DH

'well her morning sickness is mostly Physiological i think anyway' (I was being sick 7 times a day FFS)when my DH pointed out that being physically sick isnt physiological she said 'well maybe not the sickness then but certainly the nausea'

My mum was good last week, my sister rang her up an asked if I was really fat yet and my mum had a go at her and told her not to dare say that to my face, im not fat im pregnant (cheers mum)

my DH has a mouth on him so any comments i get he gives worse back - examples being,

My friend who works in a nursery says

'dont tell your child their naughty when they are, you just say to them 'thats not good' - My DH 'well we are going to tell them if their being naughty, were also going to smack them and lock them in the Cupboard under the stairs when their really naughty'

My Mum - 'oh your NOT going to be using a dummy are you' - My DH 'yeah, we heard dipping them in honey makes for a nice treat'

Knakard · 04/07/2008 10:50

At a work function heavily pregnant when one the company top guys came over and was chatting to me about work and the baby and managed to squeeze in the gem....."So then, long term partner or a one night stand?"

Rachrox · 04/07/2008 12:39

My in-laws have got to be the worst!
When i had dd1 (bearing in mind she was born at 28 wks! And i was only 18, but married!) The first time FIL saw her he said
"Doesn't she look like DH's best friend??!!"
Also when announcing pregnant with dd2, they turned round and said
"Well dd1 will always be our favourite!"
So imagine their faces when i told them i was pregnant with dc3 as they had already forbidden us from having any more children as 2 is plenty! Also we 'defintely didn't' want a boy as they are horrid, so at 20 wk scan we found out we were having ds (to our delight), so of course MIL turned round saying
"Hopefully they'll be wrong!"
I'm now 7 weeks pregnant with dc4, but surprisingly haven't told them yet!!
Some people can be so rude
