Hi all,

I’m sorry to post the TMI pic but I’ve been the toilet twice today and had some light brown blood on the tissue. I’m so worried.

I’m 5 weeks and 3 days so only early. Can anyone help?

thank you 🩷🩷

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I shouldn't worry if only light like that if it gets heavier or darker then speak to your gp or midwife :)

Autumn02 · 21/06/2026 19:50

I’d still speak to your gp or midwife. While it can be normal to have bleeding in early pregnancy all bleeding should be checked just incase.

have you had any cramping?

ThreeRandomThings · 21/06/2026 19:55

I had this with both my DDs until about 11weeks. Obviously do get checked out if you are worried, but it seems for me to be a very normal part of pregnancy.

lbk14 · 21/06/2026 20:12

@Autumn02I’ve had no cramping at all I feel fine. But it’s happened again it’s like this now

With pregnancy you never really know anything from one scan to the next. I had 2 twin pregnancies. I had no bleeding at all. I lost 1 twin and then the next both times. I had absolutely no idea until
the the scans. . They called it missed miscarriage. With my eldest daughter I bled for the first 18 weeks. It was very heavy. I was put on bed rest for most of the 1st and 2nd trimester. She's now 7. I know its hard not to worry. You should get checked out especially if you have pain.

SunnySunnyDayz · 21/06/2026 20:14

Speak to gp or midwife and they'll en you for a scan.

I had this all through pregnancy, turned out to be a polyps on my cevix - harmless to pregnancy and removed later.

Overthebow · 21/06/2026 20:14

It can be a normal part of pregnancy for some people, and also can be the start of a miscarriage for others. I’ve had bleeding in 3 pregnancies, was fine on two of them and not in one. All you can really do at your stage is wait and see, if you still get bleeding at 6 weeks EPU may give you an early scan.

cucumber4745 · 21/06/2026 20:19

have it checked although they may not scan you until 6-7 weeks as they can’t see much. It can be implantation bleeding or a small haemorrhage

sharkstale · 21/06/2026 20:56

I had 2 episodes of bleeding with my pregnancy. Some brown and some red. Baby was born completely healthy.

Autumn02 · 21/06/2026 20:57

I had bleeding in 3 pregnancies. 2 ended in miscarriage ( one was a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks). I also had bleeding with my son. It was a hematoma which could be seen on the scan and slowly went away. I was given progesterone and all was ok in the end. Was still very worrying especially considering previous miscarriages

Lua2203 · 21/06/2026 20:57

Hi there, I just wanted to reply to tell you that you are definitely not alone in this.
I’m in the exact same situation right now, also just entering my 6th week. I actually just got back from the emergency room today because of my bleeding. They did a scan and told me that, for now, they can only see the gestational sac.
I’m still having brown and reddish spotting, but the doctors explained that at this stage, it could be caused by a million different factors. It could just be a tiny blood vessel that burst because the cervix is so sensitive right now, it could be the placenta developing, or just the body adjusting.
The hardest part is that there’s absolutely nothing they can do right now but wait, so I have a follow-up scan scheduled for next week to see how things progress. In the meantime, they advised me to take things very easy—not strict bed rest (to avoid any risk of blood clots), but a very peaceful, quiet life, keeping my feet up and avoiding any heavy lifting or efforts.
Sending you a huge hug. The uncertainty is exhausting, but we are in this together. Try to rest as much as you can.

Hollyhobbi · 21/06/2026 20:59

I had the same on both pregnancies. They’re 27 and 22 now.

lbk14 · 22/06/2026 11:09

@Lua2203awww no I’m so sorry this is happening to you 😢 it’s such a worrying time isn’t it! I’ve had no pain at all so I don’t know what to think. Keep me updated please 🩷 fingers crossed everything is ok for us both, big hugs 🤗 xxxx

@Hollyhobbithats reassuring. Did yours last a few hours in the day though? Mine started around 14:45pm and I’ve just woke up now and had some brown when I wiped but I’m in no pain what so ever. It’s such a worrying time isn’t it 😫

Is it your first pregnancy? Bleeding can be normal for some. Could be implantation bleeding, or a small haemorrhage. Brown blood is usually a better sign than red. For me though, this always signals bad news. I’ve had 3 early miscarriages and a chemical, and they’ve all started with brown spotting when wiping. I got another positive a couple of days ago, around 4.5 weeks and not counting my chickens yet, so I empathise with the anxiety it’s giving you. I hope it’s better news for you though! Can you self refer to the early pregnancy unit? They’ll usually offer a scan around 6 weeks if you’re spotting.

CoatiCutie · 22/06/2026 13:07

I had this with my 3rd pregnancy. It lasted a few days at a time, and carried on every few weeks until I hat about 24 weeks. It was a Subchorionic Hematoma. Baby was born absolutely fine 2 days early.

Lua2203 · 23/06/2026 08:43

How are you feeling today?

I'm still having some light brown spotting (since Saturday). No pain either, but just living in the uncertainty.
I hope you are doing well 🫶🫶

The bleeding has completely stopped thankfully and I just feel really tired, sometimes sick until I eat something! But I went for a blood test on the 23rd and they got back to me on the evening and said my hcg levels seem right for someone who’s around 5 nearly 6 weeks, they then booked me in for a scan so I had that done yesterday and they said everything looks good. Baby’s in the right place and my lining is nice and thick. She has rebooked me for the 8th for another scan.
She told me that the spotting can take up to two weeks to resolve so just monitor it. But you should ring the maternity clinic and see if they can get you in for a blood test like they did with me, I had my results same day! It eased my mind instantly and then they sent me for the internal scan so I’ve now got 2 pics 🥹🥰
I really hope everything goes well for you, please keep me updated. If the spottings light with no pain then that sounds positive to me 🤞❤️

I am so, so happy for you!! What wonderful news! ❤️
Thankfully, in my case, the bleeding has slowed down significantly today, so I’ve been able to relax a little bit on that front. However, what really worried me is that when I went to the ER—even though they said everything looked normal and in the right place—they could only see a gestational sac measuring around 5+ weeks. According to my calculations, I was just starting week 6 (I know this for sure because I tracked my ovulation date).
Because of that, I thought we would be able to see a bit more by now. Now, I just have to wait until Monday, when they will repeat the scan to see if the pregnancy has progressed. Thank you so much for your kind words! ❤️❤️

SlightlyTerrifiedButPolite · 24/06/2026 14:40

I would speak to your GP or EPU just to be sure. But I have had the same thing though recently. I’m 5 weeks 6 days and had the exact same time spotting start two days ago (so 5 weeks and 4 days). Really freaked me out. Mine is an IVF pregnancy and I called the clinic. They said as long as it’s not getting heavier or bright red and there is no cramping then just continue to monitor it

I have a 7 week scan booked next week but the only wanted to bring it forwards if cramping started or if it becomes heavier. I do have some crampy twinge type pains but I’ve had them throughout / nothing new

I feel a bit like you in the sense that I was hoping I’d see a bit more. However I was just under 6 weeks as I’m 5 weeks and 6 days today. All I keep thinking is did I imagine things she said, like did she really say she could see the yolk, or did she really say my linings thick. I’m overthinking everything and doubting myself incase I’ve heard her wrong 🤣 it’s such a worrying time. Fingers crossed when we go for our next scans we hear a heartbeat 🥺🤞 xxx
