42 and (very happily) pregnant!

Hi all, I am 42 and 4 wks 4 days! A shock as my first was 11 years ago via IVF. We had our consultant IVF appointment on the 5th April and were ready to go ahead in May. No need now!

Very excited but also nervous which I know is normal. I have had to step away from poas as it was becoming addictive.

Any other 40+ mums to be out there?

I had my daughter through IVF when I was 42. All straightforward. I’d had dd1 through IVF 4 years earlier. Dd2 is now 21 and they both get on great.

Keeping everything crossed for you @Sheffters. I’m 43 and pregnant following IVF. I’ve had two heavy bleeds and lots of spotting but baby is measuring bang on (9 weeks) with a strong heartbeat. Really hope it’s the same for you.

Thank you so much. I am currently sat in epu. Had my bloods done and now waiting for a scan to check for ectopic. I am hoping all will be well like yours x

I had my only at 45y2m, naturally. Quite a surprise when i found out but all perfect. The best thing I've ever done 😊

Update: bloods show proestrogen at 11.7 so on the low side. Back in 48 hours for more bloods. They checked my cervix and said that the blood is old and not fresh, I assume that's a silver lining. Will just have to wait and see now xx

No fresh bleeding sounds hopeful @Shefters.Did they tell you your HCG? Are they going to give you progesterone? I’m on it anyway because of IVF but was also offered by the EPU because of bleeding.

My HCG is 112. X

They didn't offer it but may do I guess on Sunday. I also had it with IVF years ago and all was good then.

I can imagine. It’s such a horrible limbo. I’ve been there more than once unfortunately. Never found a way to make the waiting any more bearable. Sending lots of good wishes and keeping everything crossed for you.
