Xonvea - did you manage to come off it during pregnancy?

ive been on Xonvea for 5-6 weeks for severe nausea. Im around 12 weeks now. I felt better about a week ago, so I tried to take one tablet rather than two but unfortunately it seems to bring back all the nausea.

I heard that stopping Xonvea could make nausea worse at the beginning, so keen to understand your experience. Did you manage to come off it? Was there any sign that made you feel you could come off it? How was the coming off process? Did you have to reduce the dose and then stop? I’m quite keen to come off it as the side effects aren’t nice despite it helps the nausea but also I’m a bit scared I can’t given the recent failed attempt.

I had the same experience early on. I stopped at 11/12 weeks for a couple of days while I waited for a new prescription and got super sick again. I then stayed on it until about 17/18 weeks, having reduced to just 1 pill at 16 weeks with no ill effect.

Which side effects are you struggling with? I found the side effects with Xonvea were much better than on the other anti sickness meds I tried, but I know it affects everyone differently.

Thanks for sharing the experience! It sounds like there’s hope in a few more weeks!

the side effects seem to change all the time, at the beginning, it’s constant sleeping, headache, dry mouth which really affects my tastes. Now I’m not sleepy but something can’t skeeo, still struggles with strength, it feels like my muscles are asleep. Dry mouth still.

I was given Xonvea straight away so didn’t try others though later another GP did suggest that but reading about side effects and given how nausea I felt. I thought I’d stay put since I know this works even it’s not perfect.

I ended up reducing to 2 a day. I tried to come off it round the 28 week mark and was immediately sick again. I wasn’t allowed to take it in labour and spent most of my labour vomiting. Is definitely recommend staying on it l. My little girl was born perfectly healthy

Tried multiple times to come off it/ reduce dose but nausea always came back strong. Stayed on it until day before c section. Was still nauseous for 2 weeks after delivery but did not take it. Eventually all went away; currently 7 weeks post partum and can’t even remember what it felt like 😅

I came off it for a while because I got a new Ob who decided I shouldn't be on it that late in pregnancy and my sickness got much worse so she put me back on it thankfully.

What time of the day are you taking it? I was advised to take it at bedtime and had no side effects that way except sleepiness which was perfect at bedtime (fine by morning)

I was able to come off it. My sickness wasn't as bad as previous pregnancies..

I started by missing the morning dose just for one day. I had other antiemetics that I would take if that turned out to be a bad idea
