bleeding at 5+5

Hi, I'm 5+5 and bled quite heavily for about an hour this afternoon. I'm lucky in that I was able to see my GP and she booked me in for a scan tomorrow morning, but obviously I am really upset and worried. I don't want to give myself false hope, but can't help feeling it's a good sign that the bleeding has stopped - surely if I was losing the baby I would bleed for longer? I feel so alone as dp is working away and doesn''t know what's going on. Also don't really know what to expect tomorrow as have never had a scan this early before. Any advice gratefully received

i had a scan at 5.5weeks and exaclty the same as you, no embryo - made me sign a consent form to go and have a d and c as though was ectopic, i discharged myself and went back a week later to see a ickly bean with a heart beat - give it time, dont give up yet
dd is now 20 months and mad!

Thanks for messages ladies, it's good to hear about positive outcomes. I have been pretty much talking myself out of anything positive just so I don't feel too devastated next week! Frances, why is it that these things always happen when DH/DPs are either abroad or in some other way unavailable? I am sure there is a law about it... Anyhow, glad you have done some nice things to take your mind off it - we had a good weekend too, albeit quiet, and I actually have a lot of work to do (from home) this week so in a way that is helpful in passing the time. At the moment I am analysing every symptom to see if I fee less sick/tired, are my boobs less sore etc! Take care and good luck for Friday.

How's it going roquefort? All quiet here - no more bleeding and still feeling tired and sick so can't help being hopeful. The days are going awfully slow!

Same here Frances, no more bleeding or pain and feeling sick/tired. Also hungry all the time for various rubbish foods I don't usually eat so feel bloated and enormous. I know what you mean about feeling hopeful - I am really trying to keep a lid on it though given the last scan results which for my dates did not look good. Anyhow good luck for your scan on Friday - for me, one week down and one to go!!

fingers crossed for you both.

Very happy to report that I had my scan yesterday and there was a tiny embryo and a heartbeat! Hugely relieved. Thank you so much to everyone who's give me support on this thread - I don't know where I would have been without you. Roquefort, I do hope you get the same result - fingers crossed for you

wow frances, that is marvellous news - i am so pleased for you.

I have been having some more spotting yesterday and today so unfortunately don't think I will get the same happy result but it's not unexpected so I am sure I'll cope. I'll let you know what happens - thanks to you and others on this thread for your support, like you I have found it made a real difference during this difficult period of waiting.

Hello, i'm new and i've been reading your thred. i have a lovely healthy baby girl who is 16 months old, but when i was 4-5 weeks pregnant i had a bleed - not a heavy one but enough to worry us. I had an early scan, was told that a sac had been seen but no embryo so we had to do the week waiting thing! then a week later - a hb! the rest of the pregnancy went without a hitch. We have recently been trying for another one and fell pg last month, then at 5 weeks i mc. Now this month i think i am pg again, same nausea, triedness etc but it's too early for a test and this morning i am bleeding again, heavily. it's so upsetting, i don't know if it is my normal period after a mc or if i am miscarrying again or just hormones! i still 'feel' pregnant but i guess i know in my heart what is happening. I just wanted to say i know it is frightening but i do know it's not always bad news. Thanks for listening xx

Congratulation Frances!! So glad for you.

Roque, still keeping my fingers crossed for you and hoping it'll go well. How long do you have to wait for the next scan from now? >Hugs<

Heeby, don't know what to say but hoping you are well and you'll pull through this difficult period. Best wishes to you, too!

Heebychick · 29/06/2008 11:54

Thank you, it's lovely to hear such wonderful news, i am really happy for you Frances. As i say my first pg had some early bleeding and i have a wonderful 16 month old baby girl, so not all news is bad. i guess it's just not my right time at the moment xx

Hi

Am 6 weeks and a few days I think. Woke up with some pinky brown spotting On Sunday which got lighter through Monday, no pain. then disappeared Tuesday / Wednesday. Woke up today with same thing. Is now browny and I have some cramping. From what I've read this is a 'threatened miscarriage' - am due to go back to docs tomorrow for another preg test and to be referred to Early preg assessment for a scan. Fingers crossed.

maz32 · 22/08/2008 19:24

how do you cope when you have to wait two weeks for another scan. i was 7 weeks pregnant and started bleeding and paniced, had scan on monday and there is a good thick womb lining and a gestational sac but no heart beat, from other threads I know there should be a heartbeat, have be#led a lot since so dont have much hope. It is so hard to think we have to wait until 1 sept to get a definte yes you have miscarried or not. everyday is an emational roller coaster. Any one got any thoughts of how to get thro? xx

brettgirl2 · 25/08/2008 15:08

I have been going through the same thing. I am 7+4 and have been spotting since I was just under 6 weeks. Have been lucky enough to have heart movement detected but phoned doctor at the end of last week and she was really worried that it has not settled down. Am going to have to have another scan this week to find out if preg is still viable It's just so awful!
