Measuring behind at early scan

Feeling really low and just really hoping for some advice or positive stories.

I had my first private scan on Saturday at what I thought was 7w5d but baby is only measuring at 6w (4.7mm CRL), although the sonographer said that there was a strong heartbeat (she said she was unable to state the bpm). I am fairly confident on my ovulation dates as my partner was away for work after I suspect that I ovulated.

I have seen a mixed bag of outcomes here, some positive and some negative - although the majority seem to be the latter, especially if you are sure on dates. I phoned the EPU earlier and they booked me in for a scan on Wednesday morning to check everything but I'm so scared.

Yep private ones aren't allowed give out medical advice.
I take progesterone too

I think they obviously have a duty to report the truth so if there was no heartbeat or embryo not seen etc. but they can’t talk much about the discrepancy between LMP and what the scan measured.

Has the progesterone helped for you?

Update: unfortunately my scan at the EPU today confirmed that baby no longer has a heartbeat.

I’m utterly heartbroken.

Thank you for all of the kindness and support you have shown me on this thread, it has helped me feel less alone.

Ah I am so so sorry to hear this, it’s not the update I wanted to see. Feel free to message me if you want to talk at all - it’s honestly such an awful thing to go through.

Thank you everyone for your lovely messages of support, it means the world to me during such a horrible time.

I have another scan booked in for next Thursday, I presume to check that the baby is not still there. I was given some pads and a booklet on miscarriage, so I guess I just have to prepare to pass everything naturally and they will follow up after the scan next week if I don’t.

Oh @HoneyPeachesi am so so sorry. I really hoped for you it would be a positive outcome. A lot if not all of us know how you’re feeling right now and there isn’t a lot one can do or say to take your pain away. Go gentle on yourselves, rest up and please let us know if you have any concerns or questions. Sending big hugs and strength for you x
