stretch marks appearing AIBU to be upset?

I'm 34 weeks, and am huge. So far I've escaped without stretchmarks apart from a few either side of the bump at my hips which didn't worry me too much. Today I noticed in the mirror that in the light I have lots and lots of stretchmarks about to appear (the skin is a different, more shiny, texture) and am feeling very upset about it! I had stretchmarks as a teenager on my hips and they were a horrible red-purple colour for years.

I know how you feel, I had no stretch marks until last few weeks as I put on around 4 stone when pg with ds. I am almost down to my pre-pg weight now and my stretch marks have almost gone, just 'silvery' marks on my tum and top of thighs. I would just say to keep using a moisturiser every day, that's all you can do. They will look better.
I am now pg with number 2 and am already rubbing in the cream!

If you ABU then so am I as I was quite upset to see mine starting to appear on my tummy (am now 32 weeks.) I had loads on my hips from puberty which started to go red at the ends but these didn't phase me at all but the ones on my tummy do, I'm not sure why. I am also not sure why the ones on my tummy have gone silvery already and not red but i'm not complaining.

I feel for you as I was in a similar boat - loads of horrible stretch marks from puberty and was dreading getting them on my bump, although in the event they weren't as bad as I feared.

I will say that in my not-very-scientific experience, pregnancy stretchmarks seem to be different, possibly because they don't continue to be stretched iykwim - ie the bump deflates whereas my big ole hips stayed big throughout my teenage years!

I think my teenage ones were red for a good year or more, whereas my pregnancy ones went silver just a few weeks after the birth.

Hi,

I always had pretty bad stretch marks and red scars around my belly region ever since I gave birth to my three kids.I had tried Vitamin E oil and cocoa butter which a number of people had recommended but it didn't seem to work. My Doctor had even suggested that I go for a Tummy Tuck. I then recently read an article about a lady who supposedly got rid of her stretch marks using a particular cream. I tried it and it worked really well. Within a couple of weeks my stretch marks were very much faded and they soon disappeared You can read the lady's article at the link below.

No I don't think so, I was gutted in both my pregnancies when stretch marks appeared. Both times it was right at the end so thought I had got away with it, they do fade in time but the skin is never the same and you can still see them.
