It's not bright green.... more yellowish, but sort of on the more yellow-green side now - and thick in consistency but not a lot of it. I've booked an appt with GP to find out what it might be, but I'm really nervous... it's been yellowish for a little over a week and thought it was just normal... no itching/pain...etc, but been reading and yellow is apparently not normal either... could I have been hurting my baby all of this time???

Try not to panic. It could be bacterial vaginitis, which can be treated very easily and is really common. I don't know how pregnant you are, but in late pregnancy infections can cause premature labour so it's vital to get them treated promptly.

Star, I had exactly the same at about 24 weeks. Yellow with definite green-ish tinge. I panicked and saw the midwife who confirmed that it was good old thrush . She said that in pregnancy discharge from thrush can appear greenish and it's nothing to worry about

Thanks Diege!
Did you have to put a cream on it or anything? Wont' that get onthe baby in delivery? Or no? I'm going to see my Dr today for antenatal appointment anyway - I just hope he doesn't have to get a sample or anything... yuck. I hate that part of pregnancy... everyone is examining you down there.

I have exactly the same thing. I've booked an appointment with gp for tomorrow as I have been in a total panic about it. I'm still in very early stages of pregnancy though-about 5 or 6 wks. Goodluck with it all. Glad to hear I'm not the only one.

star6 · 05/06/2008 05:54

mumnanny1, please let me know what your dr says. My gp... who I trust completely, told me - don't worry about it, discharge is normal... but yellowish-green cant be normal!!! I want another opinion.

Star, please don't worry. I was reassured by my midwife, GP, and a DR I rang up through a phone service provided by Mother and Baby magazine that green discharge with thrush was normal with pregnant women (that's if it's thrush with you - I didn't even have any itchy symptoms but a swab confirmed it). I was given Canestan cream and a pessary - safe in pregnancy, although I think different GPs may vary on just prescribing the cream.
Let us know how you get on!

I had this too at around 18 weeks, MW suspected a UTI causing irritation but I managed to flush it out with plenty of water and cranberry juice! The irritation from thrush can also cause this I believe.

Star, I'm still waiting on swab results but my doctor thinks it's some kind of infection. He said maybe thrush, maybe bacterial vaginitis, maybe something else?! Will let you know.

I've had this with my last two pregnancies and all swabs came back fine and they said it was normal for me. My babies are fine too.

Hello ladies

I know this is an old thread but this afternoon I wiped and saw a very small amount of green sticky discharge. I am currently nearly 5 weeks pregnant. Going to get it checked out tomorrow. With having miscarriages in the past ever slightest thing panics me.

One of you ladies said it is thrush , is his treated with cream or tablets ?

Thanks for reading x x
