dp says its a waste cos we’ll find out soon anyway but i feel like these next 3 weeks are gonna drag forever

has any1 else paid for a gender scan? worth it or not??

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Cheepcheepcheep · 16/08/2025 21:02

I really don’t think knowing 3 weeks earlier will change anything - you’ll still have half of the pregnancy for names and in any event you can pick a favourite boy name and a favourite girl name right now!

If money is tight I would put aside the money you would spend on the private scan and go on a little shopping spree when you find out the sex in less than 20 days 😊

pinkbackground · 16/08/2025 21:03

If money is tight then I wouldn’t. Save the money for something for the baby. You are still going to have lots of time to bond with him/her and choose a name. The money is better spent elsewhere I think.

sheknowsitstoolate · 16/08/2025 21:03

I wouldn’t spend the money if it was tight. You will know soon anyway. Obviously up to you

redgingerbread · 16/08/2025 21:17

Definitely not if you’re short of money.

ChangingChances89 · 16/08/2025 21:28

I remember you. You’re short of money and living in less than optimal conditions. You haven’t started to buy anything yet either and you have 4 other kids in a small flat.

save your money for the stuff you need for your baby and your other kids.

Of course not.

You will find out soon enough
.
.save your money to spend on baby regardless of gender.
You can buy plain white baby grows in meantime.

heartsinvisiblefury · 16/08/2025 22:09

No, why pay for something you will get for free when you’re short of money.

SouthLondonMum22 · 16/08/2025 22:09

Of course not.

You sleep on a sofa and have no money.

ChangingChances89 · 16/08/2025 22:34

yh i no ur right… just feels like everyone else always finds out early n im stuck waitin 😔 but ur right the money needs to go on the kids n baby not scans. i got the 12wk scan pic still so mite have a peek at that fb group just for fun but i’ll wait til nhs one for the answer 💗

Is this baby number 5? Surely you have most of what you need?

ClunkyPigeon · 16/08/2025 23:04

OP, do you think you make a lot of threads asking quite basic questions (is it bad I haven’t bought anything, should I spend money on X etc) because you’re not really managing the actual reality of your situation? I say that not to be cruel, but because I worry. You seem to be focusing on the wrong thing all the time, and going round in circles. What do you think might help you at the moment?

Other people finding out are very likely in a different situation to you.

The priority needs to be making sure everyone has somewhere comfortable to sleep but you already know this.

Unnecessary

TomatoSandwiches · 16/08/2025 23:20

I wouldn't pay for a private scan op, I probably would if the NHS anomaly scan didn't get a good enough look to make a guess but fingers crossed it doesn't come to that.

autumngirl714 · 16/08/2025 23:21

Why don’t you see if anyone can work out it out from the nub the Roth base don your twelve week scan pic?
whilst it is a theory, if the nub is clear it can be so obvious!

it’s so exciting OP, I understand not feeling like you can wait 😊

murasaki · 16/08/2025 23:25

Have you sorted out what your eldest is doing next year? That needs to be done, then the baby, then a coil at the very least.

Smartiepants79 · 16/08/2025 23:28

This baby will be a boy or a girl whether you find out now or when you give birth,
Don’t waste money on pointless scans if you need that money for important stuff for your children.
Just be a grown up and have some patience.

Maybe five isn’t enough?

5 too many, I suspect.

MeridaBrave · 16/08/2025 23:38

I agree total waste of money. My three kids wore unisex babygros for the first few weeks..
