Do you know what you weighed just before giving birth?

I'm trying to work out if my weight gain in average or if I'm overeating.

With my first pregnancy I was very overweight/possibly obese and gained even more weight after the birth. I tried hard to lose the weight in order to have a healthier pregnancy however it was tricky because of various birth complications. In the end I opted to take Mounjaro to help with the weight loss. I unexpectedly conceived whilst on Mounjaro and stopped it cold turkey immediately after I found out I was pregnant. I've tried being very sensible in this pregnancy with my health but it's not been easy and my appetite is huge (I'm sure it's more Mounjaro related than pregnancy related).

Anyway I'm trying to figure out how bad my weight gain is and how much will disappear once baby is born. Would you mind telling me how much weight you gained during the pregnancy? Not what you weighed once baby was born but just before baby was born if that makes sens.

I'm 20 weeks and have seem to have gained 8kg

I gained 25lbs with DD who was an enormous overdue baby (9lbs 10oz) and about 15 lbs with DS.

i was lucky that I was able to lose the weight fairly easily, although my midsection had never been the same after DD stretched me out. 😂

With my second baby I weighed myself the day I went into labour, weighed again the next day when I came home from hospital and I’d lost 15lbs.
I’d only put on 4lbs in pregnancy as I was on a miserable diet for gestational diabetes! With my first I gained 3 stone 😭

Gained 8kgs total and lost them when I weighed myself after she was born. I had gained a lot during IVF though so according to the nhs I shouldn’t have gained more than 10 or 15kgs in pregnancy or something. I was so sick until about 35 weeks too so it wasn’t great but I did feel better for it post birth! I think weight falls off quicker when you have subsequent children as you’re so busy!

I gained 12.5kg by 40+3, all of which had come off 2 weeks pp (4.1kg baby who breastfed 24hrs a day).

My weight gain was slow at the start though and then put on 5kg between 20 and 30 weeks and then the same again between 30 and 40. But is obviously going to be different for everyone, and I only had one so can't compare to any other pregnancies.

First pregnancy like a pp I put on 50% of my body weight! (Approx 9 stone, up to 13.5 stones). The first half stone before I even tested positive. Lost a huge amount of it quickly post birth (sweating a lot of it out just sitting / lying down, delightful!). Second pregnancy started a bit heavier and didn’t gain as much but not far off.

Try to not focus too much on weight gain, and congratulations on your pregnancy!

I put on 4 stone with both of my pregnancies. My first one, I lost the four stone within a few weeks. My second pregnancy took a bit longer to lose it, was around 3 months

coxesorangepippin · 14/08/2025 20:46

200lbs each time

I'm 5'4

forthistimeonly · 14/08/2025 21:34

First pregnancy I was 7stone 3 and, the day before daughter was born, I was 8 stone 3. She was 7lb.
Second time I was 7stone 7 and 8stone 8, the day before he was born. He was 7lb 7.

LapinR0se · 14/08/2025 21:39

I am 55kg. I was 67kg when my second was born; she was 3,7kg.
I was back to 55kg within a month of her being born

BooneyBeautiful · 14/08/2025 21:42

I gained 2.5 stone with both my pregnancies. Was 10st to start with and then went back to 10st afterwards.

AnotherVice · 14/08/2025 22:23

@coxesorangepippinWhat did the babies weigh?!

LER2023 · 15/08/2025 06:28

I got myself into a state a couple of months back, in my first trimester i didnt gain anything and then when i came into my second trimester i statted to gain, i gained like 2 kg in 3 weeks.
And my head was spinning because of it, i didnt want to gain more weight (syarted at my heaviest and now ive ballooned to the worst ive ever been. So i decided to put the scales in the shed where the spiders are so i dont go near them and get attached to how much weight i was gaining and being horrified by that.
Ive come to the conclusion not to give a fuck because im growing my first baby and i know i'll gain, currently looking like a whale at 26 weeks.
Everyone i see has the most perfect bump where as mines just fat and baby😅
Although bump is starting to feel hard sp it may just be all baby at this point lol🫢

I dont eat much shit, i try to have a lot of fruit and protein in my diet, but my cravings have been crisps and ice cream (seperately! I dont have strange cravings🤣) so i have to limit myself to what i can have so i dont gain even more thats too hard to shift when babys here!

Paaseitjes · 15/08/2025 07:08

I put went from 65 to 75 in the first trimester which turned out to be mostly fat from eating to stop nausea, plus maybe a kilo of extra breast. I then put on another 10kg to 85, which was baby and blood and went within a week. I'm still 75kg 5 months PP.

CuddingtonPark · 15/08/2025 07:13

12.7 kg gain just before birth.

Superscientist · 15/08/2025 09:19

I wonder if it would be helpful to have a breakdown of pregnancy weight

Typically there's
3kg of baby
1kg uterus
1kg amniotic fluid
0.7kg placenta
2kg increase of breasts
2kg increase of blood and fluid volume
3kg increase fat stores

With my daughter I struggled with weight gain as I had hyperemesis in the 1st and 3rd trimesters. I gained about 8kg in total. I lost this by day 10 after she was born and by the time I stopped breastfeeding at 10 months I had lost a further 8-9kg due to severe pnd and heavily restricted diet due to my daughters allergies. I was an lower average weight before pregnancy and ended up underweight and struggling with my physical health.

I'm pregnant again, I started about 3kg heavier than before i had my daughter no issues with hyperemesis this time around. I'm 33 weeks and have gained 7-8 kg I keep bouncing between 2 weights as I struggle with keeping up fluids in this weather and I'm probably not consistent enough with the extra snack I know I need at this point because of the warm weather and lack of appetite. I was similar with my daughter at this stage in pregnancy and once I got passed started gaining regularly again
