My youngest is just over three months and I'm pg again.

How does the body cope with two pregnancies so close together? ...and the mind!

Can anyone who has children very close in age reassure or offer hints and tips on how to cope best please?

This is #4!

PMSL at blithe positivity..... I had started to worry it may be hysteria but this places it in a more positive light

Congratulations! Year less six days between me any my younger brother - People used to call us "Irish twins". I don't like to think about my parents bedroom antics at all but I'm rather impressed at you getting back into the swing of things so quickly after childbirth!

I know someone that had triplets then had a ds 10 months later.

rather her than me

12m gap here between the dds and ds was 3.2yrs when dd2 was born. Lovely to have, hard work but wouldnt change it.

I know a woman who went to her 6 week post-partum checkup and was pregnant already.

I have cousins who were born 10 months apart (younger one was 10 wks prem). They were in the same school year.
They got remorsless teasing for years about their parents sex life...

then they changed schools and just told everyone they were non-identical twins.

My mum had cousins who were 10mths apart. It was wartime and the dh was being sent off to fight so they decided to try for a sibling asap after No1 and in case he didn't come back from the war. In fact, he did return safely but they didn't have any more children after that!

Here in Nigeria if a woman has twins, it's the custom to have another baby within one year, to prevent the twins being spoilt by all the attention that they get. Which is fine, unless you then have another set of twins, meaning you must have yet another baby within 12mths - five children in two years!!!

Jules OLiver wrote a book cos her two are pretty close in age...I've not read it but a friend who had twins said it was a good read, warts and all but also shows joy of hvaing two children so close together

my friend has 3 children under 3 and started actively trying for no.4 when ds was 3 weeks old. I guess that would make 4 under 4 by the time this next one comes..
she takes it all in her stride and looks fab!

Less than a year between mine. Very very hard work for the first 18 months/2 years. A lot of people say it's like having twins but the things that make a very small age gap even harder imho are:

  1. being pregnant and having a tiny baby is really really hard. Especially if you are breastfeeding or if you struggle with morning sickness or exhuastion
  1. they both need you 24/7 but have vastly differing needs

The fact that this will be your fourth will help in a way because you know that the hard stuff doesn't last forever! Mine are 2 and 3 now and an absolute joy. I'm very glad it worked out the way it has.

Good luck!
