Hi, I'm new to mumsnet and this is my first posting (although I have posted this message in the correct area as well). I really need some advice. For several months I've been having symptoms of what I think is the menopause (I have reached that age in life where everything stops working), I haven't had a period for three months and I was very irregular for a several months before, my boobs are very tender and I'm very tired. However, I have a strange feeling that instead of the menopause I could be pregnant, although I keep telling myself I am too old! Is this possible or is it just me panicking for no reason?

HeadFairy · 26/05/2008 14:35

WOW!! congratulations, what a great way to find out you're not menopausal!

susiecutiebananas · 26/05/2008 14:40

Good GOD! Wow!!! CONGRATULATIONS

Welcome to MN, and welcome to the preg boards, and welcome to erm... well... erm... I'm not sure, but welcome!

I am only shocked because I was not expecting that to be the answer! not because of your age at all, but just because of what yo put in you original post. I'm so HAPPY for you!

You won't be the only person on here who is pg at 48 either, i'm sure of that. There are certainly other lovely laydees over 40 who are pg, i'm sure there is a thread for them. somewhere!

LL: Definitely simck wins the prize for best entrance ever!

oh, well done Kate- now you must tell us how it all goes, how far along do you think you might be? Is DH pleased too? or are you having to revive him from the shock...
oh, and thank you for telling us first, before your DH! That was really sweet of you We were all holding your hand whilst you pee'd you know

simck · 26/05/2008 14:41

just told dh, he said "take me to the golf course quick"...i don't think he believes me yet. his first words were "how did it happen"?

I think i could be 10-12 weeks, periods have been all over the place for several months. Been feeling very tired and nauseous recently. Boobs are agony, I mean total agony!!! haven't let dh get anywhere near them for a few weeks now, but I must say they don't point completely south now (sorry, TMI).

ScoobyDoo · 26/05/2008 14:56

All i can say is good luck, i hope it all works out, you sound pretty over the moon, just look at it as your little miracle baby

mamalovesmojitos · 26/05/2008 15:07

foxythesnowfox · 26/05/2008 15:20

What an entrance!!

Hello, welcome and congratulations

Don't go disappearing now you've got us all here. You've got to go and find your AN thread, and there's the PG threads and Dadsnet for Mr Simck, oh, and you simply MUST start a 'Am I in labour' thread and ... oh .... and ...

simck · 26/05/2008 15:26

I am celebrating with a glass of chilled Scotish Highland water. Me likes foxythesnowfox, it's good to get excited and good when somebody gets excited with me I'm affraid you will get everything, warts and all from me, hence the boobs bit earlier. I would love to chat with any mums/mum 2 be my age, got lots of questions to ask.

Hi KnickersOnMaHead, I know you should never ask a woman her age...BUT...how old are you?

OP posts:
ScienceTeacher · 26/05/2008 16:23

Congratulations, Simck!

"How did it happen" - LOL, DH has said that twice to me. You'd think by #4 and #5 he'd know.

congratulations Simck!

I am only 41 and desperate for another but dp is too stressed to even bd and I'm worrying myself sick that I'll never have another so thank you so much for your inspiring newbie thread. I wish you a happy and healthy pg and calm and peaceful birth.
