The dreaded “any sign yet?” texts

I’m only just 38 weeks and already getting the “any sign?”, “is she here yet?” texts!

Largely from family members or friends who have barely spoken to me once the whole pregnancy too! Including this fantastically-worded gem from a CF friend: “Hey! When do you think you’ll go into labour?”

Hadn’t heard from MIL for the majority of the pregnancy, until yesterday when she asked if there was any sign. When I reminded her of my due date, she confidently declared she doesn’t think I’ll get to it. What the rational is for that I’ve honestly no idea… news to me!

Anyway, it seems it has begun! Any advice for a FTM as to how to deal with the texts?

I’m quite a private person as it is and so don’t like feeling like a watched pot. DH is going to handle the “comms” once baby has arrived, but right now it’s me getting the requests for updates.

Gosh yes those texts are SO annoying.
I’m 40 weeks on Tuesday and have had so many! I even had one from my 60 year old mLe neighbour, who moved away 2 years ago! I would definitely recommend archiving the chats, or responding as others have suggested along the lines of “I won’t forgot to tell you when they’ve arrived!”

with my first child I was really anxious about going overdue and ending up with a massive baby, and the texts just made it worse and worse. So I’m def Italy more forthright this time around!
