Washing new baby clothes?

Ive read differing opinions about whether to be washing baby clothes before they arrive.

Ive washed all the 2nd hand clothes that my friend has given me but what about all the brand new stuff ive bought? Which is most of it!

What has everyone else done or planning to do?

First timer here so no previous experience.

At least the chemicals in most detergents have been dermetelogicaly tested - some of the chemicals on fabrics are downright nasty (I think formaldehyde is quite a common one...)

Eeeps, I've only bought 0-3 months as baby seems to be average size. I didn't buy newborn size as I figured if she's 7.5lbs plus then she'll be fine in 0-3 months and as she'll not be crawlin bigger should be fine. Should I be buying some newborn sizes too?

I bought all 0-3 months when i was pregnant with ds1, and all the presents we got when he was born were 0-3. He was 6lb 5oz born and was so tiny dp had to go out and buy tiny baby sleepsuits, so i would buy a pack of newborn just incase. You can get fairly cheap ones from asda/tesco then if they are no good you haven't wasted much.
With ds2 i had bought quite a bit of newborn and had some of ds1's little baby things, he was 8lb and huge so had to buy bigger for him.

I will buy a pack of newborn suits then, just in case (the MW says from feeling me that the baby feels 7lbs-plus - can she really tell that?).
