To hate the term - ‘chemical pregnancy’

Why on earth do people use the term ‘chemical pregnancy’ it was a conception which implanted but just didn’t make it for very long for whatever reason, but if you know much about embryonic development then it actually did a lot to get to even that stage. There was maybe a a few days or even longer of excitement, working out due dates, making plans etc. Why refer to these short pregnancies with such a horrible name.

I don't think it is a real pregnancy. I don't know why people refer to it as a miscarriage, as if it's the same as a late miscarriage.
I've had several after 12 weeks, a chemical pregnancy is nothing comparable.

Not a real pregnancy? Kindly do one.
No one is saying it's the same as a late miscarriage.
My experience does not take away from yours and it's not a competition.

Happydays2025 · 28/04/2025 14:00

Proud of yourself are you?

NotSafeInTaxis · 28/04/2025 14:19

It's my opinion, not sure why you think it's about you.
My chemical pregnancies were not, to me, in any sense real pregnancies. Unlike any of my later losses. I can't see how you can imagine I'm not allowed to have that opinion 🤨

Happydays2025 · 28/04/2025 14:45

You can think what you like but what I am saying is it's condescending of you to tell others that early miscarriages aren't real pregnancies.

You're confused. I didn't tell anyone anything. I have my opinion, which I think you'll find is pretty much the point of this forum.

I am not confused

From your response "I don't think it is a real pregnancy"

If that isn't condescending bullshit then I don't know what is

Sadly yes this forum is full of people's uncalled for opinions

It’s not bullshit, it’s her opinion. She is allowed to feel however she likes about it, so are you, you don’t have to agree.

Uncalled for… to you… but you don’t get to decide what opinions are uncalled for and which are not. You can disagree with an opinion of course, but that works both ways.

Your own sensitivities do not take precedent, and certainly shouldn’t inhibit debate. That’s how MN works.

Many people would have agreed with @NotSafeInTaxis

Heres the thing.
Would any of you tell a woman in real life who had gone through this that her pregnancy was not real?
No, probably not.
So don't do it here then

I don’t see where on this thread anybody has actually said to anybody else that their pregnancy categorically is not real?

All that poster has done is expressed their opinion, on a public forum, that actually other women on this very thread have shared, about chemical pregnancies. They have even then followed up by saying that is their opinion and you are allowed your own opinion, that’s life, we don’t all agree on everything.

Nobody has done.
If you can't cope with other peoples opinions, you shouldn't be here.

I can say whatever i like about my multiple chemical pregnancies, and my multiple late miscarriages. You don't get to tell me otherwise.

I wouldn't know, I've never played it. No idea why you would
