3.7mm NT, feeling worried

12 week scan today with baby number 4. Had two NT measurements of 3.5mm and 3.7mm so had my blood test fast tracked.
I know all I can do is wait for the results but I’m really worried and hoping for some reassurance.
For context I am 33 and husband is late 30s so age shouldn’t be a risk.
She said everything else looked normal.

Also, I’ve measured a whole week ahead of where I thought I was. I track ovulation and I really can’t believe it was a whole week earlier than I thought. I don’t even think I had sex around when that would have been. Is this a potential indicator of something being wrong, measuring so far ahead at this stage? I had an early scan at about 7 weeks and that was bang on where I thought it should be.

I had two pregnancies with nuchal measurements just under 4mm. My first the combined results made my overall risk 1:67 but in the second it was 1:10 and everyone talked to me like it was inevitable that the baby would have Down syndrome. Both babies were born healthy with no problems.

i really hope your results are good.

@accountdetailschangeusername thank you that’s reassuring

@anicecuppateaa thank you, I’m so anxious and tearful. DH knows and is looking after me.

I posted up thread but will say again to try to reassure you…
3.5mm is the cut off for normal so you are just at the limit. Apparently the limit in Europe is higher.
My 1:31 chance of DS baby is totally healthy, and nearly 5. With everything you’ve said (no other issues visible etc), I would be confident of a happy result tomorrow.

I agree with the timings, I had my test done on a Tuesday and got my results Friday evening, it's common it for it to take just under a week. Try not to panic, the odds are still in your favour and they wouldn't have given good news over voicemail

LuckyMoonstone · 23/03/2025 19:31

@Chica1990 thats good to know thank you.
trying to stay hopeful, still getting a pang of nerves when I think about it.
I know it’s bad but I’ve had to pour myself a glass of wine, I just need something to sip to stop my head from spinning. Will block it out for a couple of hours with a film then go to bed.

Hi @LuckyMoonstone! I’ve just stumbled across this thread and I don’t really have any experience of this topic but I wanted to wish you luck with the results. Also, don’t you think maybe they were calling you on a Sunday because you are anxious and they didn’t want to keep you waiting? It’s not necessarily bad news.

I don’t think it’s bad you’re having wine either, one glass will be fine. I hope you enjoy it and that you can calm down ready for tomorrow. I’d call in sick to work if I were you. Good luck.

LuckyMoonstone · 23/03/2025 19:46

@Feliciacat thank you so much x no work tomorrow fortunately, but I’ll be a nervous wreck on the school run before I can go home and call them back (don’t think the screening midwife is in until 9)

We are all here for you to talk to when you do get the results. Sending love x

Low risk for all 3, I’m so relieved. And so glad the results came back quickly. I’ve decided not to have anymore tests, I’m happy with the nipt. Having an extra scan in a few weeks to check everything still looks ok.
Thank you everyone so much for being so supportive and kind

Thrilled for you, reading your update has brightened my morning :)

What lovely news. If only the midwife could have left that message yesterday! Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

LuckyMoonstone · 24/03/2025 09:37

Thanks all, I wish I hadn’t worried so much but obviously I couldn’t help it!

Of course you couldn’t help worrying! That’s so natural; please don’t beat yourself up over it. I’m glad you got the news you wanted.

Chica1990 · 24/03/2025 09:56

I can feel the relief in your message @LuckyMoonstone and I was exactly the same! So pleased for you and hoping you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy
