20 days late, could I be pregnant?

Hi all,

I know it is an unlikely situation at this point but looking to see if anyone has ever had a positive pregnancy test at 20 days late +?
I am currently on day 55 of my cycle and 20 days late for my period.
I was diagnosed with PCOS back in December and came off the contraceptive pill at the beginning of June 24. My ‘irregular’ periods since June have always been between 30-35 days and never ever this late.
I have had cramping as if my period is about to arrive for two weeks or so now and still nothing. Boobs have felt sore and heavy and I’ve also had some heart burn and insomnia. I have also noticed little baby hairs growing from the front sides of my scalp and sideburns which I’ve never had before! GP won’t run bloods to check for pregnancy.

I am driving myself crazy as I just want to move forward with our next cycle of TTC but feel stuck in limbo. A friend of mine who also has PCOS didn’t get a positive test with her pregnancy until she was 8 weeks but I know this is very rare. Has anyone been in a similar position?

Thank you!

Have you taken a test?

Everythingisnumbersnow · 02/02/2025 18:31

If only there were a way to know for sure 😐

Have you taken a test?

Yes I’ve been testing every day but stark white negatives…

I'm assuming you have taken a test and its negative? Buy the really sensitive ones that are to be used before period is due and test again.

Its possible you're pregnant especially if you feel different to usual.

Have you taken a test OP? That seems the obvious response.
I have long and irregular cycles and got my BFP on cd56.

Unfortunately it is also possible that you just didn't ovulate this month and may skip a period altogether this month. When I've had that happen to me, it normally just goes back to normal the following month. Very strange.

Thank you, yes I’ve been testing every other day with first morning wee and all negative 😔
With the PCOS I have no idea when/if I ovulate. It’s just so confusing but I know people say you’re not out until Aunt Flo arrives!

Thanks so much for your reply, yes I’ve been testing every other day as recent as this morning and all negative 😞
that’s interesting you got a BFP on day 56! I guess it is still possible then…

I Had really long gaps between my periods - almost as if I'd miss a month.
Longest gap was 58 days.....don't know why I remember that but I do!!
Anyway you never know with irregular periods when you may ovulate so I'd guess that although you're not pregnant if the tests say so, you may ovulate at any time so don't give up trying while waiting for a period to start.

Thank you, it is all so confusing! I feel very bloated and have had cramping on and off for 2 weeks now but nothing 😔

I did but it was a very strong positive by the time I tested - I hadn't tested earlier.
I would have been about 5.5 weeks at the time (I'm now 32 weeks) and up until that day I'd had no symptoms and felt no different. I tested because I was on holiday and suddenly threw up one morning at breakfast!

If you're getting negative tests then it seems unlikely you are pregnant. You've either ovulated very late or it's a skipped month.
