Hot water bottle on pelvis in first trimester?

Hey,

I am 5 weeks and pretty anxious. This evening I sat in front of the telly with a hot water bottle sitting on my tummy. It was pretty hot as I used boiling water but I put it over my trousers and never really felt any burning which is why I was able to sit with it for an hour. Then I thought I would Google if hot water bottles are dangerous and finding articles that you shouldn’t be directly on your belly. Now I’m really anxious that I may have cooked my baby or damaged it in any way and just waiting for a miscarriage 😱 does anyone have any experience from their health practitioners on the use of hot water bottles. Do I need to be panicking or is this just first trimester anxiety?

I’m sure you’ll be fine, OP. I think the overheating risk is more if you had a very hot bath, or went to a sauna. Don’t do it again though, else you’ll worry!

In the first trimester I survived with hot water bottles as I had terrible cramping. The midwife even said it was fine but just not to use boiling for safety reasons so the hwb didn't explode/burn you. You'll be grand.
