Hello all,
I am currently 6 weeks 3 days pregnant. I am currently 18, will turn 19 two months before the baby is due.
of course my boyfriend and I know this is a less than ideal situation however we are excited and have decided to keep the baby.
in some ways we are very privileged for this situation, our relationship is very strong we are incredibly close and I have always known I will marry him. We have been together nearly 4 years, since I was 14 and he was 15. As well as this his parents have offered to help us move out together and cover our rent for the first year. My boyfriend works full time and I have worked out with benefit calculators that I will be entitled to an okay bit of money for the baby. We think we would be able to save a fair bit of money in this year. We are of course aware that after this year, things will get harder for us.
However there is some things I’m concerned about. I am not currently working so will struggle to save before the baby is here if I cannot find a job (I’ve been trying for months). I do struggle with mental health in particular OCD and I am worried about this when it comes to further in pregnancy and once the baby is here. However I do hold out strong hope that the baby will give me something to focus on and a proper purpose as opposed to my OCD manifesting.
really I am looking for any advice/ wisdom or anything that may help/ provide insight and wether you think we will be okay overall as my parents are not the easiest to talk to about these things.
thank you for reading

Congratulations!

Could you not move out and save the money your parents would have paid towards a year's rent ? Are your parents able to help practically with the baby?

Maybe it works be a good idea to try and access some psychological treatment for your OCD before baby comes?

I live with dad who would not allow me to stay here. Living at my boyfriends was our hope but his parents have said it’s not an option due to space / 6 people in the house + two very boisterous dogs.

I have been seeking help for some time, was on medication which I decided to come off and I am still on a waiting list for therapy.

Congratulations! I'm sure you'll be amazing ❤️ I'd ask to be referred to your local perinatal mental health team, as you'll get assessed and see if you need extra support during pregnancy without the waiting list hopefully.
