Did you have signs leading up to getting pre - e?

I'm high risk of developing it anyway
Since around 30 weeks my bp has slowly been creeping up from my usual 115/60. I've had headaches , rib pain, swollen feet, blurred vision on and off for weeks too but nothing that stays for longer than a day.
Bp this month as following

132/84 6th Jan
129/85 7th Jan
135/85 8th Jan
117/78 18th Jan
130/70 20th Jan
112/78 21st Jan
127/96 27th Jan
119/70 28th Jan
121/77 29th Jan

I've had some high bp readings too but unsure what they are as the midwife never tells me! She just does them 10 mins apart then records the lowest one.

Anyway went in to triage yesterday for something unrelated and my bp was high and I had +1 protein in my urine ..after a couple of hours Bp came down so I had a blood test then was sent on my merry way. The blood test results came back as normal today. I have urine dip test at home and today I still have +1 urine

I'm 35+4 today. Just wondering if this is how it started for anyone else and how soon after did you actually get pre eclampsia? I've not been given a follow up just told to go to my midwife appointment as usual next week. I'm a little worried I'll have full blown pre e by then! When do I take myself back to the hospital? Had a minor headache today but again I've had them on and off for weeks so I don't want to go in and it's nothing still..

Both times I had hellp - which is a form of pre-ec, both times in the later weeks of pregnancy my blood pressure was up a bit and my platelets (I think it was platelets was the thing they look at in your blood, it’s been a while) were lowish. It didn’t really kick into gear until I was in labour or about to go into labour though, either time.

Second time around I was at home not quite in labour and remember just feeling off and not being able to describe it other than it felt like the last time. So if you just feel “off” but can’t explain it, I’d say go get checked out.

I cannot believe how many people were able to read this comment and just brush past it and disregard it without a word…? I am so sorry this happened to you. Miscarrying is heartbreaking as it is no matter what stage but a still birth at 40 weeks? I’m so so sorry that they didn’t take better care of you and just disregarded you when you originally went in.. I hope you are ok x

I'm so sorry too that I didn't give you a message of support after your post. I don't always read all of the 'middle posts' after I've had notification that someone else has commented.. How heartbreaking it must have been for you to lose your baby, especially when you knew something was wrong. I hope that you have had the support you need to get through such a difficult time xxx

@Lulu89x oh this thread isn't about me and I wasn't expecting any messages. I just want to spread awareness of medical complacency and negligence and for people not to trust the first professional they speak to and get second opinions. But I'm doing okay thank you, of course a very traumatic time. The hospital have admitted their mistakes and we will be seeking legal help.

Of course! Don’t want to take anything away from the OP or anybody else on here that are suffering from / may suffer from PE. It just really took me by surprise as I read your post, my heart actually hurt and to not see a single acknowledgement. I am only 14+5 along and I would be absolutely devastated if anything happened to my baby now, let alone when they are full term and would have survived outside the womb had you been given the correct care.

I hope nobody else goes through what you did and I hope everybody else on here goes on to have very happy and healthy pregnancies 🙏🏻

Admittedly I was panicking about myself and totally should've said I'm absolutely so so sorry for your loss and the negligence you received. Thank you for your comment. It urged me to go back and be persistent which I find quite difficult usually😖 im utterly heartbroken for you and can't imagine what your going through, sending love🤍

@Lulu89x oh for sure, it's the worst pain I've ever experienced. Especially since getting his post mortem back and it confirm that he was a perfectly healthy baby! I don't think I'll ever accept what has happened, I guess I'm just finding ways to live with the pain. I wish you all the luck in your pregnancy, I'm currently pregnant with our rainbow baby. Just abit over halfway now. We've gone to a different hospital as of course couldn't trust the last one after a total of 6 mistakes they made throughout that lead to his death, but the care I'm getting now is incredible. I feel like I have hope again xx

anonny55 · 01/02/2025 11:06

@koalakare I'm so glad you feel in safe hands. I absolutely couldn't imagine your pain. This little monkey took over 4 years to conceive and is our first. Congratulations on your rainbow baby. Wishing you a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery! Xx

Mine started at 33 weeks, I had a gut feeling something wasn't right and checked my BP a few times at home, was pretty high so rang triage who dismissed it as it was a home reading. I wasn't happy so 2 days later rang in with movements being off- anyhow in all the checks suprise suprise my BP was high and required medication to bring it down. No protein in the urine until 3 days later and then it just kept doubling. I'm currently 34 weeks now, having weekly bloods taken, twice weekly BP and urine and baby checks! They've just had to give me an extra dose too of medication so three times a day now.
starting to now panic a little that this baby could need delivering sooner rather than later (got a scan in 6 days so we will see). How's it all going for you now?? Trying to find people In a similar position to me

Hey, sorry you're going through this, it can be so scary. I didn't actually develop pre eclampsia but they watched me like a hawk as they were so sure I was developing it. I had my baby 4 days ago at 39+3 by elective section - maternal choice no medical reasons

My proteins never increased more and stayed the same, bp stayed stable but on the higher end. All I can say is if any movements are off go in. If you want your bp checked go in. No isn't an answer. Just turn up. I was having my bp twice a week but sometimes felt so unwell I demanded to come and have it checked multiple times

Mine wasnt even pre eclampsia. I went straight to an eclamptic fit. I went into labour with a horrible head ache then i started seeing things, like light flashing with i thought it was people taking pictures with a flash. Supposedly, i asked my husband why was there paparazzi in the hospital... and then the next thing i remember is waking up in an ambulance, with blood in my pillow because I bit my toungue, sending me to a bigger hospital for an emergency csection.
