Hi everyone, I know each pregnancy and out come is different but any stories either way would be great to hear please. Here’s what’s happening….
I found out last Monday (20/01) I was pregnant. I’ve taken 1 clear blue digital that said 1-2 weeks and 2 clear blue digital that said 3-4 weeks. I have done 3 tests that just have a line and they have all been very weak.
I bled during inter course last Wednesday (22/01) I went to the Dr’s, cervix looked healthy. I had been feeling sick and my boobs hurting but that has gone a lot but my boobs can still feel a bit tingly. Yesterday (28/1) I noticed some brown blood when I wiped, it then turned pink to light red and won’t soak a pad but I need to wear one. I went for a private scan today as I was so worried. He seemed happy with what he saw - although i‘m now panicking is there only a gestational sac not a yolk sac? I have attached pictures. No heartbeat visible but he said that’s because it’s too early. What’s worrying me though, alongside the bleeding, is that I was measuring 5+1 and I know I’m 5+6, we only had sex once around that time as I was poorly for a few weeks before and my husband for a few weeks after so I know it must have been then. I’m guessing the baby stopped growing at 5+1 and the bleeding is the start of the miscarriage? but I don’t (as of yet) over 24 hours after the bleeding started, have any cramps. I’m driving myself loco googling and worrying. Any similar stories or advice on the scan would be very much appreciated! Thank you ☺️

Hi OP, early pregnancy is such a worrying time. Were you tracking ovulation? I only ask as you mention knowing you have to be 5+6 because you only had sex once, but it’s not the date you have sex that matters really it’s when you ovulated, sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days so it’s quite possible that you had sex and then ovulated days later, which is when the egg was fertilised and so your dates may match up. Also, at such an early stage of pregnancy everything is so small that even a millimetre on the scan can change the dates massively. If they have told you there is nothing to worry about then go with that, keep an eye on the bleeding and good luck x

Hi Mrsttcno1, thank you so much for getting back to me! Going off my last period I think I ovulated at around 2 days before we had sex. I was so relieved in the scan that they could see something that I’ve now come away realising that I think they only saw the gestational sac not even the yolk sac? I don’t even know what I’m looking at to be honest and feel sick with worry! Thank you again

If you weren’t tracking ovulation it may just be that you ovulated later than you thought. It is such an anxious time but try not to worry, they would have mentioned if there was anything to be concerned about x

Unless you were physically tracking ovulation then you can't know when exactly you ovulated. It's not accurate just going off LMP and, as pp said, it's not about when you had sex as sperm can live inside of you for several days.

Also the measurements are less accurate the earlier the scan, that's why your official dating scan isn't until 12 weeks and that's when you would get your due date. It's very normal to be up to a week out on dates - I measured 5 days different from my early scan to my 12 week dating scan.

As for the early scan, the sonographer is correct that what you have seen at this stage is normal.
