Waiting for the 12 week /dating scan

I was hoping there may be other people that are in the wait for their dating scan and fancy a handhold?!

I have a history of miscarriage, and the days are dragging waiting for the dating scan to come around (people say January already has like 96 days anyway!!!) I keep nearly booking a private scan and then think better of it!

I’m 10+3 and my scan is 2 weeks today

xx

Hi can I come and sit with you guys too? I'm over 9 weeks pregnant (not sure exactly how many days) and my scan is on 4th March, I've had a bit of spotting for 8 days and I'm so worried. This is baby 3. I bled a ton with baby 2 and she turned out perfect but it turned out I had a bleed in my womb with her.
This is much different and can't really afford a private scan.

DejaMooo · 11/02/2025 14:16

So relieved to say that I've had my scan today and all looked great 😊 proper little wriggler!

@lollypops2303 I would probably chase that up, but only based on me getting my scan date right after my booking appointment. I think I was around 9 weeks. All trusts are different but wouldn't hurt to check

DejaMooo · 11/02/2025 14:19

@ShinyWorthKeeping could you maybe get a referral to the EPU? I haven't got much experience but it feels like something they'd check out maybe?

JuneySunshine · 11/02/2025 14:41

Hi @lollypops2303
Mine came through after my first conversation with the midwife but before I'd even seen her in person, so must have been about 8 weeks.
So yes, I really think you should have had it through by now and you're right to be chasing.

JuneySunshine · 11/02/2025 14:45

Ah congratulations @DejaMooo ! Lovely news 😊
My screening came back today and was all low risk and my PAPP A levels were fine (which were low last pregnancy).
So nice to have them that quickly- they went straight on BadgerNotes rather than having to wait for the letter.

I started spotting during my booking appointment when they asked for a sample, I let them know and she asked about the colour and I said it was light pink, she said she wasn't worried...but I am!

Blueskies4 · 11/02/2025 18:21

@ShinyWorthKeeping i also think it’s worth saying your concerned and stop spotting. I’ve had a lot of spotting/bleeding in this pregnancy and it’s also because of a hematoma.

@lollypops2303 I’d also chase, mine came through straight after my booking appointment so feels like you should have it now.

@DejaMooo congratulations, lovely news 🤗 so good to see them wriggling around!

My scan also went well, baby is a couple of days ahead of my dates and they’ve already told us the gender!

DejaMooo · 11/02/2025 19:05

@Blueskies4 ah, that's brilliant, congratulations. My due date has also put me a few days ahead. Definitely feeling a bit more relaxed now.... until the next one haha.

JuneySunshine · 11/02/2025 21:05

@Blueskies4 Congratulations! That's amazing new!
How exciting about the gender, I've never heard of that at all dating scan before. Were they pretty cautious?

Blueskies4 · 11/02/2025 23:00

@DejaMooo oh totally.. and breathe.. for now 😩 great to be bumped ahead too!

@JuneySunshine thank you. Yeah I know we were shocked when she asked would you like to know the gender? And said the machines state of the art so she can tell and said I’m confident as you don’t see this on a girls scan!! She explained the difference you see at this gestation and showed us. It was pretty convincing! I’ve never heard of it either.

Thanks for the advice everyone, the bleeding got heavier, (12 days now) and I got my scan today, can't believe it but baby is absolutely fine! 10 weeks tomorrow

Blueskies4 · 14/02/2025 20:16

@ShinyWorthKeepingah that’s great news that you and a scan and that alls ok, congratulations! bleeding is so scary in pregnancy isn’t it and your mind tends to go to the worst!

ShinyWorthKeeping · 15/02/2025 05:16

@Blueskies4 bleeding for a full 12 days I was expecting the worse, when the sonographer told me baby was fine I think I said 'Are you serious? Are you joking?!' Blush
Congratulations on your news too, we can breathe now Flowers

DejaMooo · 17/02/2025 08:59

Aaaaand so the worry continues. Just had a call from screening. My results have come back as 1:50 for DS and 1:137 for Edwards and Patau's, so they've asked me to go in today to discuss. I know 1:50 is only a 2% chance, but her whole tone and urgency has stressed me out. She was lovely but suggested I bring someone for support and made it sound so worrying. Will try to cling on to the 98% chance everything is absolutely fine!

Blueskies4 · 23/02/2025 20:17

@DejaMooo hope everything went well at your appointment and you’ve been offered some further support. Early pregnancy can be such a stressful time can’t it xx

Had my scan today. It’s TWINS! I’m absolutely terrified, 12 weeks and 2 days with zero symptoms, flat stomach, and 2 BABIES COOKING!! Nervous does not begin to explain how I am feeling right now, for a surprise pregnancy at 9 months post partum twins was absolutely not what I expected at all! 3 under 2🫣

I’ve just had a ten week scans and founds out I’m having twins too! Crazy isn’t it! My minds all over the place. When is your due date?

DejaMooo · 24/02/2025 14:02

Thanks @Blueskies4 - had bloods done last Mon for the NIPT and now just anxiously waiting for the results. Was hoping they'd be back on Friday, but that was obviously optimistic, so willing my phone to ring today. I was fairly calm at the start of last week but have become progressively worried about it as time has gone on.

Blueskies4 · 24/02/2025 14:10

Ah I can imagine, and that feels like a long time to wait. Hopefully you hear back today if not tomorrow and it’s good news 🤞🏻

Hi all, is anybody so anxious waiting for their scan?

I went for my 12 week scan 2 weeks ago but it turned out that I was only 11 weeks and 1 day, so I'm going back tomorrow for my official scan (I'll be 13 weeks)

I can't wait for tomorrow to come so that I can just see that baby is ok!

Sending everybody else congratulations and well wishes. I love hearing about everybody else's experiences x

Yes! I’ve had a ten week scan (it’s twins) and 12 weeks is now ten days away. Just feel like
lm counting down the days until it’s all a bit more real and hopefully lower risks! Very nervous!

zinrlow · 25/02/2025 18:30

@Shockedmumof3 oh my gosh twins! That is so lovely, I bet that was a shock😊 the anxiety is awful I'm not an anxious person usually but being pregnant has made me a bag of nerves, probably because it's totally out of my control. I think once tomorrow is over I'll hopefully feel a bit better.

All the best for your scan in 10 days x
