Hiya everyone :)

For context, I am currently 26 weeks pregnant, and last Wednesday I had a consultant appointment to tell me that I will be having growth scans every 4 weeks and that an anaesthetist (excuse my spelling if that's wrong) will be calling me, and I am now under consultant led care, not midwife. He said this is due to my size etc and not baby growth? He was very vague and was reluctant to answer any questions properly, he mentioned that I essentially may struggle as baby grows and struggle giving birth?
Obviously this wasn't very nice to hear as I had really wanted a water birth (I know child birth doesn't always go to plan btw) So it sounds as if I may end up having a section?
I will of course do whatever I have to do that is safe for me and my baby boy, I am just petrified of the thought of a C section...
Petrified of being in surgery, petrified of the recovery etc... I'm getting quite worked up about it. I have such a helpful partner which I can imagine will really help.
I just wanted to know if anyone has been in the same situation as mine and also how people found their c sections?

Thank you xx

My sections are the best decisions I ever made for myself. No longterm negative effects while friends and family who had vaginal births all have either physical or mental trauma.

I'm really glad you had positive experiences!! How were your recoveries?

I know it sounds so silly that I'm asking about these things, I just want to be informed and hear from others that's all😂
It's good to know that they were a positive experience for you though :)

No, it's not silly at all! I was exactly the same.

I'm just reflecting on myself for worrying so much at the time and now not even being able to remember some of the biggest things I was no doubt worried about.

What you are feeling now is completely normal and it's good to be as informed and prepared as possible for any eventuality.

No it was good to hear that you can't remember them! It's reassuring :)
I am really worried but I haven't really been told much by the consultant or as to why I need to have extra scans, C section...

Update:
My midwife has just gotten back to me- she said when it comes to teenage girls (even though I'm 20) I'm immediately high risk (which has only just been changed, until 25 weeks I have been the lowest risk and would've been allowed midwife led care)

I then pushed more and said so why did he talk about a C Section and an anaesthetist, she then said Oh your BMI is on the lower side, which again I've been told is completely normal?
I'm so confused

I’ve had an EMCS and a planned one

Honestly would recommend a planned CS over giving birth any other way. Even my EMCS was no problem

Op, I’m still on a high from my v recent planned CS due to complications with my baby. I would love to do it all again one last time as it was my last baby and just wonderful. It was a world away from my EMCS (although recovery from that was ok too) and the experience was so healing. I didn’t need pads or pain relief after a few days as the pain and bleeding were absolutely minimal. I also cannot believe how healed my scar already is. Don’t forget to make a playlist of oxytocin inducing songs you love. Both my DC were born to two of our favourite songs which are now “their song” and so special to us. They are so evocative when we hear them play now. Good luck!

I had my c section today, under GA and me and baby boy are perfectly fine and healthy 🥰 The whole process was really calming and when I woke up I just felt some pressure, no pain… I came out at 12 and I’m on the ward just a bit sleepy but so in love !!!

I had an emergency c section after being induced 9 days pass my due date. Labour wasn’t progressing and my waters had broke without me realising resulting in me having an infection & worry that the infection had spread to my daughter.

I didn’t want a c section I wanted a vaginal birth with it being my first but obviously did what was best for me and baby.

Everything went great. The doctors and nurses all remained calm and chatty to me all the way through explaining what they were doing etc. Once the spinal was done my partner came in to be with me & baby was here in no time at all. As previously mentioned by others above it feels strange as we can feel the doctor down there but no pain whatsoever.

As for afterwards yes you will feel some uncomfortable pain & getting up and about can be a bit tricky but you soon adapt and realise what you can do. I healed very quickly. Very neat scar, no infection.

I am currently 6 +2 with my second baby and I have not decided on vaginal or c section this time around but the emergency section has not put me off having another one

Congratulations! Enjoy your new little baby! How much does he weigh?

He was estimated to be 8lb15oz at 37+3 and ended up being 9lb2oz at 39+2 so not too far off
