Scared of another miscarriage

Hello everyone,

thank you for ready my post.

I am worried that I am going to have another miscarriage again (that is if it hasn’t happened yet).

I started having morning sickness on cycle day 18 with flu/cold symptoms. I decided to test on cycle day 22, my test was positive.

today is cycle day 23 and I felt a massive decline in my symptoms. My pregnancy symptoms disappeared, no more cramps, I feel more energetic today, no more headaches, fatigue and constant urination reduced, I was able to drive to work for 3 hours last night.

This is meant to be implantation stage.

I have been trying for 10 years, I miscarried last year and I know my body well, I have had two miscarriages in d past one at 10 weeks the last year one was at 5 weeks when my HCG levels started dropping. EPU nurse advised that if I’m pregnant I should start taking Aspirin 150 mg, folic acid 5mg, and progesterone. I am also taking amlodipine 10mg.

I have fibroids outside my womb, the Gynaecologists advised against surgery.

I am sad, worried and I need to read from others, maybe that will make me feel better. 🥲
I will appreciate any advice please.

The EPU have not given me
the prescriptions yet as I have not informed them of my new pregnancy test.

Hi I’m so sorry your have a hard time . 10 years is a very long time trying . I will say tho , symtoms can fluctuate day to day !! I had Hypermesis with all my 3 pregnancies and I recall having the odd day with no symptoms early on !! And it scared the poo out of me but everything was completely fine ( and symptoms returns the next day ) just try taking one day at a time . I’m not saying loss of symptoms are a deffo sign your baby is okay as I’ve also had two pregnancies that ended up with absolutely NO symptoms ever but I knew these were not viable as I had a gut feeling. Have you thought about getting an early scan ? I know as you have had two miscarriages they should ideally scan you BUT please be aware that before 7 weeks they may not see anything anyway ( I went last week at 6 weeks and was empty but it’s not unusual) also how many weeks exactly are you going by your first day of missed period ? My symptoms don’t ever start until 6 weeks minimum so it’s possible your still too early to be having full on symptoms and as your anxious it could be anxiety more than anything xx

Also if you have only just implanted it can take a good couple weeks for true pregnancy symptoms to kick in ! So cramps etc around implantation is normal and it comes and goes , sickness etc can take a little time to fully kick start . Like I said 6 weeks bang on for all of mine I had symptoms, if I hadn’t tested before I would never have known anything was up x

@Eighteight thanks so much for your kind words and swift response, it means a lot. I felt relieved a bit. Maybe I’m just worried over nothing because of my previous experience of miscarriage. I’m in my 4th week for now. But my symptoms started at the beginning of week 3 to the extent that i cant leave my bed. I was extremely exhausted, not wanting to eat the foods l like and it felt like a lot is going on with my body, that was how i got to know about this pregnancy. I usually have all these symptoms before 4 weeks. I am grateful for your support. 😊

PT revealed 4 weeks yesterday and today, symtpoms disappeared. Then i started feeling guilty that maybe it’s because I’m still taking amlodipine and baby aspirin without seeing my GP. I wanted to see my GP at the end of this week or to walk-in to the EPU. They advised me to come if I believe im pregnant so they can give me the progesterone supplements.

Aw I honestly wouldn’t stress too much ! I’m almost 7 weeks now , some days I feel completely normal and then others I feel like absolute death ! Some days I have cramps and some none . I’ll be up all not needing to pee one night and then not the next . Honestly it really does fluctuate day to day . Every pregnancy is different too . I would deffo ring your EPU tomorrow and get some advise regarding progesterone though . And I’m sure you can push for a viability scan if you explain previous miscarriages and anxiety also it’s a very tough and long road for you ! X

I wouldn't panic yet-I don't have a single symptom till 6 weeks and certainly not all day every day. You are only just over 3 weeks pregnant.

I found when in those early days, trying to plan things just to take my mind off it and to stop me ruminating was a really good idea.

MypreciousSon · 19/01/2025 18:24

@Eighteight and @Shinyandnew1

I feel more positive and less anxious reading from you. I have noted all the suggestions and I honestly feel better now. I appreciate you all. This is a strong community. Thank you so much.
I will follow up with EPU tomorrow and update you soon.
