Hi all,

Ive read Rebecca Fett’s book “it starts with the egg” and “brain health from birth”. That has given me good info on what vitamins and minerals to take trying for a baby and also when pregnant.

But there are just so many brands out there with different combinations of nutrients, I have no idea which is a good one to buy.

Currently trying to conceive but want to know what to switch to if and when I fall pregnant.

Please let me know what you take?

Hi,

I’ve also read her book following recurrent losses. I’m currently 8 weeks and I take proceive trimester 1, when I was ttc I was taking proceive conception. These are the ones where I found it most closely matches what she recommends without having to go overboard on buying separate ones. I also took extra co-q10, N-actyel-cyteseine (I think that’s how you say it!) and I also take a probiotic-optibac.

Now I’m pregnant I’m taking extra vitamin D too.

We're also TTC, I chose Inessa as it most closely met my supplementation goals. It was a minefield though.

I take their Pregnany Multinutrient and combined Calcium and Magnesium. I also supplement Omega 3 because I'm vegan and it's more difficult to get the right type of Omega 3s on a plant based diet. Started to be really consistent with all this about 3 months before TTC. I think I'm ok to stick to the same regime once I fall pregnant but that's on the list of things to check!

(I haven't read the book, so answer probably sounds quite naïve.)

I've been taking the bog-standard normal Pregnacare multivitamin (which includes iron and folic acid), and started taking it in June when I found out I was expecting after TTC for two months. I had a MMC in July but carried on taking it, fell pregnant again in October. Blood tests from screening show all my ferritin etc levels are very good (midwife was impressed). 😊

I'd have done more research but I found it all so overwhelming and scare-mongering.

Both my SILs with five kids between them born in the last 7 years took the same ones and they're all happy and healthy kids, so I had a little more confidence taking them. 😊

My diet is quite beige but I'm pescatarian so usually includes plenty of fish rich in omega-3 (within recommended NHS limits, I'm not eating cod 15 times a week) and nuts/seeds which have all sorts of minerals and vitamins anyway.

Thanks all for your help, it is a total minefield. There are so many brands and so many things some say are good snd some say are bad. I will look up the brands people have mentioned, I’d rather buy most of it in one supplement rather than buying lots of different ones!
