Possible 4th child at 42

I have a feeling I might be unexpectedly pregnant at 42. We have 3 other children 12,9,5 and I was not planning any more but I'm trying to gone round to the idea before I do a test (which I haven't summoned the courage to do yet.)

After three kids I already recognise sone pregnancy signs, and my period is now late.

Has anyone else had a surprise, late pregnancy? Tests arrive tomorrow but I need to calm down a bit before I take it. I have so many worries

No exact experience of the same situation, but just to try and reassure you I know plenty of mums your age that are either first or second time mums.

Also, everything at this stage is your choice so keep open minded - you can decide what you want to do when you know.

Do you have a DH/partner, and is this something you have spoken about what you'd do if it happened? Do they know your worries?

On the other side..... it could be the start of peri-menopause.... some symptoms are similar to early pregnancy symptoms. Just to put a different and probably also depressing spin on it!

Hi OP. I'm 42 and almost 30 weeks pregnant.
I didn't even test until quite late as I. Was putting my symptoms down to perimenopause 🤣

Yep, exact same situation. 42, unexpectedly pregnant, DD is now 4 months and a very happy addition! Also have DS 9, DS 7 and DD 3. Easy pregnancy with no issues! Hope you get the result you want

You guys are making me feel much better. DH actually has said that he would love another, it was me who wasn't up for it. I am doing a perimenopause or pregnant back and forth in my head. My periods had gotten super close, a year of exactly 22 day cycles and now I'm at 27 days, so really not late late but late compared to the recent norm

O good luck I’m exactly the same. I’m 40 with 2 children aged 13 and struggling to adjust- thought I would be happy because I love babies but the fear of sleepless nights and not being able to work is taking over a bit. I do know that if you are pregnant it’ll be wonderful when it arrives and you won’t look back,
