TTC after miscarriage - any success stories?

Hello
I have just suffered a second trimester loss at 16 wks (although its a bit of a question mark as baby supposedly passed shortly after 12 wk scan - so may actually be first trimester loss?)
I am desperate to have another baby (I have a healthy 21 month old baby boy), but also terrified of trying again so soon.

I know the advice is to wait to at least have a period but I wanted to ask if anyone went on to conceive straight after a MMC and had a successful pregnancy?

I did. It's a long time ago! I had a miscarriage followed by a missed miscarriage, and finally had my youngest aged 40.

I waited for one period each time and conceived my DC3 first month trying weeks before my 40th birthday. Weirdly I had an early menopause too, so I was lucky!

I'm so sorry for your loss but take your time and let your body recover. I am sure you have been told that one in every 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage so sadly very many of us experience this.

Grieve your loss and try again. I have always felt that my now 21 year old DC3 was the child I was meant to have x

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm in the same situation TTC number 2 but have had 2 losses in the last 6 months. We didn't stop TTC but didn't deliberately track or target ovulation just went with our mood.
With the first my HCG was being tracked so I was optimistic that they would see the change but with the second I did my first post loss pregnancy test at 2 weeks which would have been too early for a positive test for a new pregnancy. It was a faint positive and a week later it was negative. Ideally you would want a negative pregnancy test as that will distinguish if any further tests are new pregnancies or due to the loss.
The waiting is convenience rather than a medical need. It makes it easier to date a pregnancy and with early scans can help determine if the size is consistent with gestation and the timing of the dating scan and as I have already mentioned it can help to be to determine if positive tests are new pregnancies
