Hi everyone
I’m 5 weeks pregnant today after a long time ttc with various issues. This is my first pregnancy and I’m so grateful and desperate for everything to go smoothly.
Do you have any tips on staying positive/getting through the first trimester high risk zone?
Time is going SO slowly.
Thanks!!

I completely get how you feel! I was ttc for 4 years and finally fell pregnant. I'm now 30 weeks so it worked out for me..try and keep busy and be in the mindset of if somethings going to happen it will regardless if your anxious or not so try and not waste your energy on being anxious. Everyday you're still pregnant is promising. Majority of pregnancy's end in a healthy happy bubba, the odds are on your side💕

In my first pregnancy, I was very anxious and I kept reminding myself that every single person I saw was the result of a successful pregnancy! The odds are overwhelmingly in your favour.

I also realised that expecting the worst wouldn't make it feel any better if it did happen, but would definitely ruin the enjoyment of my pregnancy if it didn't. So I decided to expect it to go well. And it did! I have a beautiful 2.5yo now.

I've just found out I'm pregnant with #2 and so far feeling less anxious because now that I've had one, I have very tangible proof that it can work out. I know it's still possible for things to go wrong, but it's not likely, I'll deal with it if it does because I'll have to, and in the meantime I am pregnant and I am happy about it.

(Big caveat here that I have been fortunate not to have experienced much difficulty TTC and also no losses, just a CP, and I imagine everything I've said above is infinitely more difficult for those people who have experienced a lot of heartache along the way.)

Also I'm 5w tomorrow so v similar to you OP! Can also totally relate to how slowly time is going. I check my app multiple times a day somehow expecting the numbers to have changed 😅

Hi Op, I completely understand how you feel. While finding out about the bfp is exciting, I know that early pregnancy can be very stressful, especially when there are things in the past to trigger more anxiety.

A few things that helped me were Tommy’s mw helpline - they helped to support me through early pg and they are very happy to do that. There is evidence that more contact with hcp can promote healthy pg and they don’t really know why that’s the case. I had an early scan which helped me once I had seen the heart beat flickering away. I found that taking my mind off the pg completely by bingeing boxsets really helped - I rewatched the whole of Friends, Sex in the City and Downton.
