how to survive Christmas - bleeding

My wife is almost 10 weeks pregnant with our much longed for baby & has started bleeding tonight on Christmas Eve.

its mainly on the tissue when she wipes and looks watery but is quite red/pink (def not brown old blood)

she is booked in for a scan at EPU on Boxing day but I just don't know how we are meant to force a smile on our faces tomorrow around family etc when we are so anxious. Made worse by the fact none of them know about the pregnancy yet.

I just want to snuggle under the covers and hug her all day but that isn't going to be possible.

I’m so sorry, that’s awful to happen on Christmas Eve.

I had some bleeding I think around 6 weeks and then 8 weeks if I remember rightly, same as your wife, only when I wiped. He was absolutely fine so don’t lose hope, you might get good news on Boxing Day!

How stressful for you both and what terrible timing! I really hope you get good news on Boxing Day. If it's any consolation, I had red spotting when I was 9 weeks and all was well - she's 2.5yo now.

I'm so sorry you're going through this worry and I hope everything turns out to be OK. Do you have other children? If not, I'd be inclined to do what feels right and just stay home for the day the 2 of you. It's just a day in the grand scheme of things and supporting each other through this is most important. Tell family you've got the winter vomiting bug if you don't wish to share. Sending good luck💐

I have older children so we need to make some effort. And its not worth the hassle of cancelling on her family. luckily its a low key affair and we can escape the in laws after 2 hours or so.
