Hi, I recently found out i am pregnant while travelling and the doctor prescribed the 400 mcg tablets of folic acid. In the country where I am they only have 1mg. I will ask the GP tomorrow but meanwhile, does anybody know if 1 mg is too much?

You could take 1 every 2 days maybe

In the UK if you are at higher risk of baby developing a neural tube defect, the dose is 5mg per day so 1mg will be safe. I've been prescribed 5mg per day in two of my pregnancies.
