I'm 35+5 so a little late for nub theory and have already had a few scan tell me gender but I'm just looking for reassurance after reading wrong gender stories because everything I've bought is gender based colours lol. Any guesses based on nub in this? Measured 13+1 on scan.

People on Mumsnet are not going to be more accurate at diagnosing the gender of your baby than multiple professionals who do it everyday. And if you don't believe the opinion of said multiple professionals, why would random anonymous commenters reassure you?

If you are suffering from anxiety over your baby's gender, you can do one of three things. You could pay to get a gender blood test done at a facility to eliminate the risk of male DNA in your home contaminating the test. You can buy a small selection of gender-neutral clothes for the first week after baby is born (though it seems unlikely you don't already have a good amount of white onesies and sleepsuits). Lastly, you can accept that your son wearing a floral onesie or your daughter wearing a pair of dungarees with a lorry on the front for a few days will really not be the end of the world. Most places offer 1-3 day shipping.

But what is the harm of asking other people to take a guess based on nub? I ultimately won't know for sure until they're in my arms but figured asking people for guesses was causing no harm at all.

Wouldn’t the guesses from us on mums net cause you more gender anxiety?
no one on her is a professional and it is just a guess. The professionals look at the gender bits from different angles that we don’t get printed scan photos of.. they don’t go by ‘nub theory’, have you googled scan photo potty shots? the professionals are very accurate and even though there is gender wrong stories, it is pretty rare.

You said you've had a few scans tell you already if the baby is a boy or girl, did each scan come to the same conclusion? I've definitely heard of people having one scan and it being incorrect, although not particularly common, but multiple scans I would be really surprised.

Edited to add, the best website I know for the most accurate nub theory guesses is Nub Theory Queens on Facebook. However, it is just that, a theory, so I would trust a qualified sonographer over unprofessional's taking a guess at a still photo.

As a midwife I find this really bizarre that you're asking strangers on a forum to look at your scans and 'guess' based on a 'theory', when you've had multiple scans performed by professionals that have actually visualised your child's genitals and have told you the sex of your baby?

Surely asking for guesses and theories is just going to send you into more of a spin?!
