Vasectomy DH hasn’t done a check up sample

me & my husband ended up having unprotected sex last week for the first time since his Vasectomy 9 months ago. But the only trouble is he never went for his follow up appt to check that he’s ‘clear’

This happened on the Friday night so I ordered the morning after pill online Saturday morning I was told it would be with me Monday morning but it didn’t arrive until Tuesday midday..

I am now freaking out I just worked out when my fertile window would have been & it’s showing the date we had unprotected sex. And I’ve just found out that the morning after pill is no good when you have already started ovulating? so it looks like that was a waste of time. How common is it to get pregnant after a vasectomy?!

Has he had at least 20 ejaculations since his vasectomy? I think after that amount of time he is unlikely to have viable sperm

Until he has 2 negative tests, I wouldn’t have piv sex again. Wtf he hasn’t bothered to do his follow-up?!! you shouldn’t be panicking and taking high doses of hormones because he can’t be bothered to go ejaculate in a cup.

vasectomy failures aren’t often men whose bodies spontaneously heal the vas deferens, they are men whose vasectomy didn’t take and it didn’t get caught because they didn’t do the follow-ups.

Took my ex partner six months before he got the all clear post op 😁

The failure rate is lower than the failure rate for the pill.
So the chances he is extremely unlucky and it didn’t take are slim.

Not defending him, just trying to reassure you that chances are you are not pregnant.

I just checked he had it done end of April so hasn’t been as long as I thought. It’s hard to say about how many ejaculations sometimes we do it weekly then other times we go a couple weeks.. plus we waited 3/4 weeks after the procedure.

I know I’ve asked him a few times to get it done I think he’s embarrassed to do it but still that shouldn’t be an excuse.

He needs to get it done or start using a condom....he needs to take responsibility

My head just won’t switch off now. I’ve just been reading other posts of women saying it took their partners a few times and one woman said it took hers 18 months 🤦🏼‍♀️ I just hope it’s worked

Oh gosh that could me be now aswell I already have 2 children 😬 I’ve ordered a 6 day early test which I’ve worked out I can take on Tuesday!

My husband didn't test negative for 12 months.

A friend's husbands vasectomy didn't work. He also skipped his post op check ups, they welcomed baby number 3.

I’m hubby didn’t go for his either.. fortunately no babies! You should be fine.

Took DH 11 months for an all clear and 3 samples during that time. Good luck OP.

My friend's 4yo was conceived 6 months after a vasectomy - her dh couldn't be bothered to do the check and it hadn't worked. He's had to have it redone since!

Google tells me it is very rare to fall pregnant after a vasectomy but mums net tells me otherwise 🤯
