Been trying to conceive for almost 7 years with failed fertility help.
last month I randomly fell naturally and were over the moon.
by my dates I should be 6 weeks but I went for a private early scan and the lady said it’s a very early pregnancy looking more like 5 weeks, I now have to wait 12 more days for another scan but I’m just so worried it’s a miscarriage.
She said if nothing changes next time I see her it will unfortunately be a miscarriage which has just stuck in my head but could my dates just be off?
doctors notes below x

i keep taking clear blue digital pregnancy tests to make sure my date doesn’t drop to 2-3 weeks but I’m not sure if that’s an accurate way for me to reassure myself

Fingers crossed for you @chrissy96. I think it's common to have dates be a little behind or in front - just try to keep positive for now. (I'm 11+5 according to scan but according to my dates I should only be about 10 weeks. I probably ovulated later than I thought.)

I'd stop doing the tests, partly because you'd start to dread taking them and partly because I think the scan you've had since would have been a much more accurate indicator, so just trust that date.

Look after yourself - the earlier weeks are awful if you're a worrier (like I am!). Take each day as it comes. It's not over until it's over!🍀🌈

Do you know when you ovulated? Pregnancy dating assumes you ovulated exactly halfway through a 28 day cycle - so if you don't it can be quite far off. Very plausible to just ovulate a bit late, particularly if you have long cycles.

I'm currently "11 and a bit weeks" by dates and have had a couple of early scans measuring 9 days behind but they've shown good growth (so consistently 9 days behind every time I'm scanned, seen a heartbeat etc).

I had exactly the same experience as you, went for a scan at what should have been 6+4 but was measuring just over 5 weeks with an empty sac. So I totally get how you're feeling - but there's definitely hope!

I've just read your scan report. Them seeing a fetal pole and yolk sac is a good sign, I didn't have that on mine! I've had a previous miscarriage where the sac was empty, which is quite common, so the fact there are things developing in there is pretty positive. Fingers crossed for you OP!

Good luck OP, unfortunately the only thing that can tell you if all is OK is time.
There's not even any point in repeated testing as it tells you nothing. Even those that miscarry often continue to have positive tests for days or even weeks afterwards.

Do you know exactly when you ovulated? If not then the LMP date may not be accurate. At my first scan LMP said I should be 8+2, but I only measured 6+1. I have long irregular cycles though so that wasn't a huge surprise and I'm now 24 weeks.
