38 weeks with baby 2 and so overwhelmed

I'm 38 weeks pregnant with baby 2. DD1 is 20 months old.
Last week DH had to go abroad for 5 days for a work trip.

DD1 has been sick with a bug for 7 days which I've caught and been bed-ridden with for 3 days.
DD1 can't go to nursery as sick so DH looking after her during the day which means he is really behind with his day job.

DH is 2/3 through a DIY project getting DD1 a new bedroom decorated before baby 2 arrives but can't make progress as DD1 demanding to be cuddled by him all day as she is sick.

Haven't got much baby prep done for baby 2 other than my hospital bag is packed and all newborn clothes are washed.

Feel totally overwhelmed as I'm feeling sick with this bug and husband trying to work from home and look after ill DD1. House is a state and just feel so unprepared and overwhelmed.

Not sure what advice I want but just typing this out is cathartic.

Baby 2 doesn't need her own room on day one so I shouldn't be worrying about that.

The rest feels much worse because... well, being ill with a toddler is one of the most brutal experiences!

I hope you're feeling better soon x

You are completely right, it won't be the end of the world that the DIY isn't done.

I know it will be fine when I put it all into perspective.

Thank you, just helpful to have someone else rationalise things! ❤️

I don’t really have any advice but I’m in a very similar position.

38 weeks tomorrow with DC2, house renovation going on and on, we both have the flu, 2 year old is on antibiotics for an infection and also now seems to have caught the flu on top, house is a state and I’m having a c section very soon.

I’m trying to rationalise what absolutely needs doing v what would be nice (but doesn’t actually need doing). Going to try and take the weekend to rest and then focus on cleaning and sorting what I can next week. Can you make a list and prioritise for when you’re feeling better? Is there anything you can outsource?

Sorry you're in a similar position!
It's not easy prepping for baby 2, never any time!

I've managed to do all the minimum baby prep so that is a big relief. House is still a mess but DH is taking DD1 out for a few hours tomorrow and that will give me time to at least tidy and clean the playroom and living room 🙏

Hope you are also getting a few bits done here and there.
