Birth after having forceps

Hi, just want to hear everybody else's stories or opinions.

On my first birth i was in labour for 3 days, was so painful, ended up having forceps, 3rd degree tear and episiotomy and i had the epidural which probably didn't help. My recovery was terrible, the worst pain i have ever felt in my entire life, i felt like death.

I am now pregnant and absolutely terrified to go for a natural birth again incase i tear so bad down there it gets destroyed lol!

Did anyone else have a good second birth after a bad forceps delivery or would you think it's best to opt for a C section?

@freddyfluffball how was your c section recovery? And how long until you felt okay again?

Hi I had forceps and a bad cut from front to back with my son in 2019. I had my daughter in 2022 with no cuts or tears and I was discharge within 3 hours of having her xx

Op definitely keep doing your research and speak to your midwife when you can. Everyone’s experience is different and your concerns are completely valid. I will be opting for a c section off the back of my previous vaginal birth and I’m sure that’s relatively common.

@GirlMumxx I know this was a few months ago now but I wondered if you'd since had your baby and what option you went with?

I am 26 weeks with my second. After a forceps and episiotomy after my first I always said a csec would be essential for baby2, however now pregnant I'm considering a vb now and really so undecided!

Good for you. Remember this time round you will be coming home not only to a newborn but a young toddler too who will want and need caring for, picking up, will be climbing on you, you will need to bend down and play with him and dress him etc - hard after surgery!

I had a horrendous first delivery inc forceps and a pph.
Very straightforward second delivery, felt amazing afterwards.
Both early inductions due to diabetes.
