Aching legs are making me miserable - any advice?

I’m 7 weeks. Before I even got a positive pregnancy test, my first pregnancy symptom was aching legs when I go to bed. They ache as if I’ve run a marathon or climb a mountain! From what I’ve read about restless leg syndrome, I don’t think this is it - is it?

Three weeks on, they basically ache all the time and I’m waking up in the night uncomfortable. It’s much worse (I think) if I am doing lots of exercise, so I’ve gone from running 5 times a week/walking at least 10000 steps a day to nothing, which also makes me feel rubbish!

Has anyone had similar and found anything to help? I’ve just ordered magnesium but I’m not sure it’ll help. I’d be so grateful - I don’t want to be completely inactive my whole pregnancy !

I have to lie on my bed with my bum shuffled up as close to the headboard as possible and my legs sticking straight up at a 90 degree angle against the wall/headboard.
Hubby thinks I'm mad but it really does help

I used to watch tv with my legs thrown over the back of the sofa. It was the only semi-comfortable position.

I get aches which are worse at night and I find stretching really helps me, as well as getting my husband to do some very firm massaging of my muscles.

Try to put your legs up when resting, and invest in good compression stockings. Not glamorous, I know, but was an absolute game changer for me. On days I didn’t where them, my legs swelled up and hurt. If I had them on, I was perfectly fine.

PS: you can take them off when exercising but then put them back on until you go to bed. Absolute game changer, I swear - I was also active throughout pregnancy with walking and yoga, and it helped massively with stopping back, hip pains etc. don’t give up on exercise x
