Did I have chemical pregnancy?

I had unprotected sex couple of days before my ovualtion date and a week after I started having this mild cramps, not painful but felt like pulling, prickling, dull pinching sensation in my lower abdomen sometimes feeling it towards my lower back. This was from Sept 28 till like Oct 17th then it went away having it on ocassional days. I didnt have any other symptoms except for feeling a bit tired than usual. I took a pregnancy test on Oct 17th which was negative. My period came 12 days later than usual which was the longest it has been and the mild cramps i had was something I never experienced so definitely something was going on. Would it be possible that I had chemical pregnancy as my period was delayed and felt something new? For reference I am 36 and my husband is 42.

Normally with a CP you would get an early positive test but then later it would be negative and you'd get bleeding like your normal period.

This sounds more like it's just been a late period which happens increasingly as you get older (I'm 41 and have experienced these several times in the last 5 years or so - even more so after hitting 40 when my cycles completely changed virtually overnight). I get more cramping and back ache now that I never used to get.

In both my pregnancies, I had no symptoms whatsoever except for the normal feelings you get when AF is due to arrive. Pregnancy symptoms are caused by the hcg hormone which is what the pregnancy tests look for. If your levels are high enough to cause symptoms then they're high enough to give you a positive test.
