Did anyone else get pregnant with withdrawal method?

It feels impossible although I suppose it's not. DH and I used withdrawal but I'm talking minutes before ejaculation, not just before. It seems so unlikely that it's happened but I'm pregnant. Did anyone else get pregnant this way?

You had sex without contraception. Yes, I have gotten pregnant when TTC.

Ulio · 02/11/2024 10:06

It's not a method

Grapesofmildirritation · 02/11/2024 10:06

I learnt about pre ejaculatory fluid as a 14 yo at school, I’m sorry your education let you down. My similarly catholic educated friend has a third child thanks to this “method” [it’s not a method]

Gloschick · 02/11/2024 10:09

Hmm... I have used this method successfully in the past (between babies so pregnancy wouldn't have been a problem). I suspect that he may have been at the point climax, maybe had a little ejaculate, withdrew, and then took a while to regain climax, hence the minutes. It would be odd to withdraw several minutes before climax otherwise.

'We had unprotected sex and now I'm pregnant! How is this possible?'

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 02/11/2024 10:35

I managed to get DP pregnant despite two different forms of contraception.

You used zero forms of contraception, of course it was going to happen eventually!

TheGoddessFreyja · 02/11/2024 10:36

withdrawal is only 78% effective

PollyPeachum · 02/11/2024 10:42

@pumpkinpice If you had been reading MN for a few months you would have seen about others with the same problem.

Iwantabrightsunnyday · 02/11/2024 10:43

3 of my friends teenage pregnancies were because of that

Alottodoaboutssomething · 02/11/2024 10:44

Contraceptive pill, coil, injection, and condoms = forms of contraception.

"Pull out method" = idiotic

Sorry op, but surely you knew you were playing with fire. If people ate mature enough to have sex, they should know what contraception is, and the risks. Maybe some more education in schools is needs, as something is failing evidently. Babies are not something to take a risk with.

TheLittleOldWomanWhoShrinks · 02/11/2024 10:47

I really wish people would stop calling withdrawal a 'method'. It perhaps helped reduce the odds a little bit in the days before any reliable contraception, so earned the title 'method' by virtue of there being nothing better, but those days are long gone - except the word 'method' makes some people think they can rely on it. Russian roulette is about right.

TheLittleOldWomanWhoShrinks · 02/11/2024 10:47

Um... increase the odds. Reduce the risk. Blush

@Changingplace no, I'm roughly 10 weeks but it feels impossible and that it can't actually be true.

Why did you use the method then if this is the reaction?
