Weight gain in pregnancy

I just wanted to see if anyone else is feeling the same or has been in a similar position because I am 15 weeks pregnant and feel huge! This is my second baby, I was quite big with my first but this time I feel fat rather than pregnant. I am 5ft 8 and before pregnancy I was 70KG and at my last appointment I weighed 80KG! I have been eating a lot more than I normally would and in the early weeks it was almost uncontrollable. Mostly carbs too so definitely my own fault. I am just concerned I am gaining so much weight that i’m ruining my body forever! I am certain baby is ok as like I said I gained a lot the first time, which I lost within 6 months but my stomach was still all over the place 😅
I accept my body is going to change but did anyone else gain this much in the first trimester?

I'm pregnant with my first, honestly, I've balooned!! I'm now 33 weeks but I'm 5ft 4, and was just below 9st at my pregnancy weigh in. I'm now over 13st!!
My midwife isn't the slightest bit concerned, I however hate it. But I know my body is doing what it needs to.. along with maybe over indulging a little, but pregnancy is tough, we deserve a treat 😂
I really wouldn't worry too much, or if you are mention it to your midwife and try and make healthier choices. Xxx

Honestly, just stay away from scales during pregnancy. Your body is growing another human and NEEDS all that extra nutrition. I know it's easier said than done - I have a history of body image issues - but just try and ignore any weight gain for now. After baby is born and you adjust to your new routine, THEN you can start to think about weight loss. Right now there are other things that are more important.

@Lunamoon23 Nearly there at 33 weeks, so exciting 😍 Its just I see people who still look really slim with just a bump, whilst i’m over here turning into a whale 😆 I don’t even know what to wear! My friend gave me maternity clothes but I just feel hideous. It’s probably time I should start making an effort with my hair/ make up and maybe i’ll feel better. I did worry last time and it came off pretty easy with healthy eating/ walking but now i’m thinking that it might not be so easy this time around. What makes it worse is that my partner is losing weight! How dare he 😂
Pregnancy is so tough, thanks for replying, at least I know i’m not alone! Best of luck with the delivery of your little one x

@UnravellingTheWorld You are definitely right, it’s just so hard looking at myself like this. I don’t have a cute bump it’s more like a roll of fat 😅 I know there’s a bay beneath there and before getting pregnant I told myself not to worry. Hopefully now i’m starting to feel a bit more alive, I can do some more walking or maybe take up swimming. Thanks for your reply x

Honestly, I feel the exact same! I feel disgusting. And did from very early on in the pregnancy, it's such a hard transition having your body change so rapidly with little control over it. I get told all the time how great I look, but I feel anything but.. as soon as I'm home for the day I'm straight in to PJs, it's the only thing I feel somewhat comfortable in. My DH is also thin as anything! He will sit and indulge with me, yet it falls off him and onto me, I'm sure of it 😂😂 I've never been one to struggle with weight ether, always been lucky in being able to eat what I want mostly until now!! But I'm planning on breastfeeding and will be out often for crisp winter walks with the pram and dogs so I'm sure it'll drop off in time. Try and be kind to yourself. But by all means, doll yourself up a little if it'll make you feel better! No harm! I still go a full face of make up and hair before leaving the house, something that makes me still feel like myself. I'm sure you look fine! Be kind to yourself (although I know how hard it is) xxx
