I am massive worrier. Basically this evening I had some pre packed aldi sausage rolls, I put them in the microwave and stated to eat them but I don't think they were hot enough (there ones ready to eat), now I'm worried I'm gonna put baby at risk with either listeria or toxoplasmosis or ringworm.... I've emailed my MW but she only part time and will get back to me when she can.... I'm really worried as many people don't get symptoms I just didn't think.... x

It'll be fine

Alwaystired2023 · 06/10/2024 20:55

Agree it will be absolutely fine. Pregnancy anxiety is awful I suffered terribly

AmyW9 · 06/10/2024 20:56

You'll be fine. Surely you can eat those cold anyway? :-)

cattywat · 06/10/2024 20:56

Oh god having flashbacks to being pregnant and thinking like this all the time !!!
They're already cooked aren't they so you're just heating them up, it'll be fine. But I know that won't stop you worrying lol

How far along are you OP?

Worrybee123 · 06/10/2024 21:08

11 weeks

Honestly, for the sake of your sanity, step away from Google

Hernamewaslola22 · 06/10/2024 21:11

It'll be fine. People in tribes have babies, I'm sure their food isn't always cooked to the perfect temperature.

Hernamewaslola22 · 06/10/2024 21:12

The stress of you worrying will probably be more harmful.

Worrybee123 · 06/10/2024 21:24

Food anxiety in pregnancy is the absolute worst @Worrybee123. I had it terribly during my pregnancy.

My advice is to familiarise yourself with NHS guidance on safe foods, storage and hygiene etc and then leave it there. Print it and put it in the kitchen. Don’t be tempted to Google everything, it doesn’t alleviate the anxiety! I found a website (not NHS) which basically went through every fruit and explained why pregnant women shouldn’t eat them. It was ridiculous.

If the anxiety is getting very obsessive, please seek help. I saw a private therapist and it was hugely helpful.

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 06/10/2024 22:28

That’s ok. Don’t think about it anymore. Get some sleep.

DniHnly · 06/10/2024 22:28

But you can eat them cold?Confused

RosesAndHellebores · 06/10/2024 22:30

Misses point of thread. Why would you put sausage rolls in the microwave which would make them soggy? They should have gone in the oven.

It's a non issue by the way.

Kt1704 · 06/10/2024 23:12

I eat one every day

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 06/10/2024 23:13

You’ll be fine

TripleCarber · 06/10/2024 23:28

I think the OP’s point that some people are not understanding is:
Yes you can eat them cold, yes you can heat them up and eat them hot.
but if youre going to heat them up, you (ideally!) need to make sure they are fully heated up to a high enough internal temperature and not just partially warmed up.
She only warmed them and is concerned they didn’t heat to a high enough temperature.

I hope I’m correct (with my basic gcse level food hygiene and also my mum always worries about that same issue for some reason!)

In either case OP, please don’t worry at all! you will be absolutely fine!! You won’t have harmed baby, or made yourself ill so try and forget about it.

OP, it will be fine.

But you’ll need sone coping strategies with your anxiety, or you’ll be exhausted by the end of your pregnancy and beyond.

Have you accessed any therapy?

The person I used to speak to about everything food was Mt dad because he was a chef and he knew a lot and I trusted him but we lost him in October last year and it's coming up to the death so I'm wondering if all this and being pregnant is just feeling a little lost without him 💔
