Anyone else on the long 12-week-wait (until scan?)

Hiya, I'm 7 weeks tomorrow and the thought of waiting until the end of October to finally get some sort of real confirmation I'm pregnant is driving me mad.

Anyone else on the long 12 week wait for a scan?

How’s everyone getting on? I’m 7.5 weeks now, had a scan at bang on 7 weeks and all was ok, heartbeat seen which was lovely. But. I feel like a paranoid anxious mess! I worry every time I go to the loo that I’m going to see blood. I really don’t know what to do other than tell myself that anything that happens is out of my control and I have to just stay positive. Anyone feeling remotely similar !? Feels like a lonely place !

I’m exactly the same! I had a scan last week but showed I wasn’t as far along as thought, by a whole month! So we only saw the sack and yolk. We’re going back later this week to see if there has been progression or if it has just stopped growing. The wait is absolute torture.

By the new dates, I should be 6+5 at the next scan so just preying to see a heartbeat.

I’m exactly the same though, every time I go to the toilet I expect to see blood. It’s so worrying. Trying to distract myself as much as possible but it’s so difficult! Hope you’re managing to stay distracted. X

@CosmoMango congratulations on your bfp! Wishing you lots of luck. Cramping can be a normal symptom in pregnancy so try not to worry :(
@rosecbrm didn't think I’d be alone in feeling this way, sorry you are too! Best of luck to you and fingers crossed the next few weeks go by quickly without issues!
@Tigerlilli I’m so sorry, that sounds very stressful indeed :( I really hope you get positive news at your next scan, keep us updated. I’m trying to keep busy, its tough!

@holi2024 to reassure you, I had bleeding on and off my whole first pregnancy and she's now almost 3! So even if you do have bleeding, it doesn't mean all is lost.

@CosmoMango I remember this with my first, week 3/4/5 was just constant cramping. You've got to remember your uterus is undergoing rapid expansion, even if you're nowhere near showing yet. Had dull period pains all through week 4/5 this time too, and just put it down to the same rapid growth.

@JerryCanDo it's the work clothes I'm particularly struggling with. Need to just buy maternity work clothes. Last time I was wfh so was in leggings and joggers the whole time but this time I have to be fairly presentable on my office days. And just can't convince myself to invest before 12 week scan!

@showersandflowers oh I see! What about stretchy dresses, are they smart enough for your office? I have a couple which are great for either dress up or down. They're bf ones actually but you can't tell!

showersandflowers · 30/09/2024 11:51

@JerryCanDo you've reminded me that I think I did actually pack a few stretchy mat dresses away after the first was born. I'll have to dig those out. Throw a jumper over the top and no one will ever know!

Is anyone getting insomnia as an early pregnancy symptom? I am waking up every night at 3:30am on the dot and then I can't get back to sleep 😫 it's killing me! I have been going to bed very early to be fair so I was thinking I should try and stay up later but as soon as it gets to 8pm I'm done 😂

Also really struggling with sickness now, it doesn't matter what I eat I feel awful afterwards, the acid reflux is crazy. Had anyone got their first nhs booking appointment through? I think mine should be mid-end of October so I'll just be quietly climbing the walls until then

Daniki · 30/09/2024 12:30

Hi all can I join? I'm 5+1 today and so anxious!! I do have a scan on the 15th oct when I will be 7 weeks so thankfully not too far away but after 3 losses I'm quite nervous!
What symptoms did everyone have early? I have sore boobs on and off and heartburn has already kicked! Trying to remember if I had it this early with my son 😂

showersandflowers · 30/09/2024 13:49

@browneyedgirl626 omg sleep
Has been so tricky. I find I sleep deeply from 8pm until midnight and then I am awake on and off, sometimes sleeping 20 mins, sometimes 40 but never more than that. My 2 year old has also decided to be up half the night so that doesn't help!!!
Oh and on booking I have mine schedule for some time in the 9th week -9+3 I think and then scan booked for bang on 12 weeks. It won't feel real until then, despite annoying symptoms.

We are 10+3 so not long to go until the scan, although we had one at 7+5.

The next anxiety is the down/edwards/patau syndrome screening we've opted into at the scan. Honestly, so much to worry about, but we try to just remain positive.

browneyedgirl626 · 30/09/2024 19:07

@showersandflowers oh yes same my 9 month old is now crawling around his cot for half the night! I think the sleeplessness is a combination of hormones but also conditioning myself to wake up when he does, fun times eh!

JerryCanDo · 09/10/2024 14:02

How are you all getting on? Anyone had their dating scan yet?

I'm 8 weeks now and still not puking. Not complaining of course! But it is slightly worrying as I've been sick in exactly the same way in all my previous pregs, and it always started at 5.5 weeks. I know this can happen and everything is still okay, but it can also mean all is not well. Still a month until the dating scan, so I'm trying not to get too attached emotionally.

showersandflowers · 09/10/2024 17:09

@JerryCanDo I was the same last week (9 weeks now) but now the puke is coming thick and fast... I've literally just had to drop making dds dinner to go and puke! Honestly missing the no-vomit state I was in last week (or maybe not... I was also fearing the worst!)

Dating scan is booked for 31st and can't wait as it's now getting very difficult to hide my puking from my parents, who I see everyday as they live nearby.

I have booked a private early scan in 3 weeks when I'll be 8 weeks pg .... feels like an eternity to go! Feeling very nauseous but no puking as of yet, maybe it's too early 🤷‍♀️

Daniki · 09/10/2024 17:56

Iv a scan now on Friday il be 6+5 🙌

JerryCanDo · 09/10/2024 18:47

@Itssojulia I think it's just as common to have nausea only as nausea + puking. Not sure which is worse! With puking at least you get a half hour break from the nausea, but puking damages your teeth so 🤷
Happy days!

ThatGladSwan · 10/10/2024 08:46

I received my letter yesterday for my 12 week scan. 23rd October! It's only two weeks away but it'll still feel like ages

browneyedgirl626 · 10/10/2024 08:55

My 12 week appointment is also 23rd October, but I'm going for a scan this Saturday because I want to see if everything is progressing before I fly over to my clinic next week for my last intralipid. I find all this waiting very hard, and I'm surviving on crackers and baked potatoes 🥴

showersandflowers · 10/10/2024 10:32

Anyone else struggling with hunger? I am hungry every hour and I don't want to pile on the pounds like I did with my last baby but at the same time it's awful being ravenous all the time. Really struggling with it. Eating loads of fruit but it's just not working.

OP posts:
Daniki · 10/10/2024 10:36

@showersandflowers yes I am the same. I am constantly eating. But it's keeping nausea at bay so I don't really mind. I'm also on steroids am prob due to that aswell!

JerryCanDo · 10/10/2024 11:09

Oooh 23rd October is an exciting day then!

Yes I am also hungry as a starved wolf. I try to eat really filling things like nuts and protein, but sometimes I crack and eat chocolate (which is what the baby is really demanding) 😆

showersandflowers · 10/10/2024 12:55

@JerryCanDo yes, currently snacking on a bowl of peas because all baby wants is bread and super noodles, obviously not the healthiest of choices when eaten all day every day... but fruit and veg are keeping me full for maybe an hour because my stomach is growling again, driving me bonkers!
