Nausea and lack of appetite

I’m into week 7 and already lost my appetite and just don’t feel like eating. I’ve had cereal in the mornings, snacky things like toast and beans thoughout the day and soups etc. I know it’s not enough. I just don’t physically feel like eating and I’m trying to force myself to eat even small things. I’ve lost some weight. I’ve been taking my pre natals so hoping the baby gets some nutrients from those. Haven’t been sick as such just more nausea and feel like I’ve a hangover. Would this be concerning or normal?

I've been exactly the same, but also am now sick every every evening at 12 weeks.

Being pregnant is tough, just try eat what you can, stick to foods you know you can eat. Have you got a midwife yet? It's much better to ask them instead of googling!

I've found I'm better with cold foods, or liquids so just try get those in throughout the day. Having some soup in a mug is much easier for me to eat than sitting down with it in a bowl etc. If I cook food I get completely put off it, so DH has had to do more cooking 😁.

I wouldn't worry too much just try your best snacking for the next few weeks until it eases.

I had HG with my first pregnancy i lost 1 1/2 stone in the space of a couple of weeks didn't put nay weight on, had a small bump but the baby was 7 lb 13 so not small. At my worst i was managing a glass of water a day and 1/2 a pack of crisps.

I am also into my 7th week and I’m struggling too. I am living off plain and very beige food and just feel constantly sick.
it’s been a rough couple of weeks feeling sick day and night and I just want it to end so I can function properly. But yes I also feel constantly hungover.
hopefully this doesn’t stick around too long for us 💪🏻 trying really hard to be positive!

I had HG in my pregnancy and lost 10kg (was a healthy weight) and they midwifes / consultant weren’t really concern at the weight loss. Baby is a parasite and will take all it needs from you.

Consultants said to me to eat anything I fancied, don’t think about nutrition. So I lived off Burger King chips and full fat coke 🤣

Also to add if it gets really bad and you are struggling home remedies (sniffing lemon oil / sickness bands / eating a cracker before sitting up in bed) or going to the GP for meds are options.

This happened to me in both my pregnancies, I think it's normal. I lost 11lbs by about 16-18 weeks in this pregnancy through a mixture of sickness and lack of appetite.

I weighed myself last week (or maybe the week before) when I was about 28 weeks and I'd put 7lbs back on so was still 4lbs less than pre pregnancy.

I think unless you start off underweight then it's fine!

Just do what you can to get through the first trimester - even if it's just a bite of a cracker or a couple of crisps! I found fruit like soft melon I ould manage a few pieces of!

Stay hydrated, take your vitamins and be kind to yourself. Anything is better than nothing, don't dwell too much on nutrition at this stage.

DancingPhantomsOnTheTerrace · 13/09/2024 09:33

It's normal. Maybe some smoothies might go down a bit easier and give you a bit of a boost?

Peonies12 · 13/09/2024 09:58

This was exactly what I had, midwife said just to eat what I could face, whenever I could face it, and not worry about nutrition. As long as you're having your folic acid supplements. Focus on staying hydrated, smoothies or juices might be good for the extra vitamins. Most likely you'll feel better in second trimester and you can have a better diet then. I lost a couple of KG in first trimester, but midwife didn't seem concerned.

Started wearing the sickness bands as anytime I’ve woke up it’s started. Currently eating ritz crackers at the minute and cheese lol
