Hello! I’m coming up to 17 weeks and still I cannot eat a meal. Worried I’m not eating healthy enough. I can snack all day until about 6pm till get what I think is reflux. I don’t have a burning sensation but I start to feel nausea and like vomit is constant in my throat. Does it sound like reflux?
anyway, lunch time and dinner time I literally cannot eat a whole meal. I’m just not interested and don’t want to eat it otherwise I feel sick even looking at it!
im snacking on cereal yoghurts popcorn fruit chips potatos omelettes crossaint.🙃🙃🙃

For example. Today I’ve had weetabix, crossaint, potatos, popcorn, fruit mix, tried to have noodles for lunch but nope couldn’t eat it. Now I’ve just tried to make chicken for dinner again straight in the bin and I feel constant sick in my throat!

Hey OP. Sorry to hear you are struggling. It sounds like you are doing the best you can with food and I'm sure the baby will take what it needs from you.

Have you been to the doctor about your reflux? I had and reflux like you until about week 25, and vomitting, but I was given medication that made it a lot better. For reflux I take omeprazole twice daily and I have something else called famotidine which I can add in if the reflux is bad. Both safe for baby. Mine was in the evening like clockwork too. It didn't take the symptoms away completely but helped me to eat a little more.

I am 34 weeks now and haven't put on much weight at all through the reduced appetite I had in T1 and 2 but baby is very healthy looking and actually a little on the big side :) x

This was me! Literally from finding out up to late second trimester I could barely eat! In fact I’m in the third trimester and I thought it had gotten better but some days I still struggle.
recently had a scan and baby is doing well with growth so not too concerned!

i just took comfort in that and the fact a lot of other women said they couldn’t eat much either.

Thank you for the reply ladies!
I tried to take some gaviscon before bed last night and I gagged hard, ended up vomiting! Haven’t vomitted in weeks!
does it sound like reflux even though I don’t have the burning sensation?
Today I will carry on with the snacks and just not bother with meals. Maybe it making the reflux worse!
I have midwife appointment on Friday I will mention it there and see what she suggests x

Speak to your GP about omperazole. I had reflux with my daughter to the point I couldn't drink water omperazole made a huge difference immediately.

Don't worry about not managing full meals little and often is fine if that's what you can manage, try to focus on what you manage in 24h even if that is 6 snacks/small meals rather than 3 meals. I lived off tinned peaches with my daughter and had sickness through out the first and third trimesters. Baby was fine, I did ok in pregnancy but suffered postnatally when I developed pnd and went on to a restricted diet breastfeeding a multiple allergy baby.

Gaviscon always made me worse!! Try rennie?

I forgot to say I bought some protein shakes to have when I wasn’t feeling a full meal- or just as a top up snack.

Maybe just give up on meals and eat little bits all day? But maybe try and make some of those snacks fruit and vegetables instead, like make a fruit salad and just have a little bit, or make some raw veg sticks with a dip.
