I'm so worried about having a miscarriage

I just found out I'm now 4 weeks and 4 days pregnant, and I'm so excited.

However, some people in my family are implying I shouldn't get my hopes up too high right now because of miscarriage.

But we are the chances? I'm now so worried that's all I think about 😅

1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. Odds are in your favour!

the odds are in your favour, but it still about 20-25% depending on where your statistics are coming from

I miscarried my first pregnancy. I booked in for an early scan at 7 weeks, had a slow heartbeat and a baby that looked a week behind or so and was told to come back in 2 weeks. When I returned, no heartbeat and no growth had happened. I was ‘9 weeks’ pregnant by that point.

an early loss is a very sad thing no matter the circumstances but I certainly made things more traumatic for me by downloading lots of pregnancy apps, ordering books and fantasy shopping for prams.

people scoff about early scans but it would have been even more terrible to find at at my dating scan @ 12 weeks. I don’t regret finding out where I stood early

…but what I’m trying to say is: I was the 1/4. Most people are fine. But I would recommend demonstrating some caution and not getting carried away, just in case you aren’t.

gentle congratulations

It's far more likely you'll have a successful pregnancy than not but this is why a lot of people don't tell anyone straight away

The first trimester is the highest risk so some wait till after the 12 week scan before announcing it.

Wishing you a healthy happy pregnancy OP
