Filling up car 10 weeks

I had no choice but to put petrol.in car today (10 weeks - I have tried to get husband to do it when pregnant). Of course inhaled fumes, wasn't able to get head out of way of it.

Any solid advice before I go down the google hole?

Unless you took a swig of it you'll be fine OP. I filled my car up all throughout my pregnancy, didn't think twice about it.

First pregnancy op?

Peonies12 · 31/08/2024 15:52

Are you joking? If you are serious, please get some mental health support.

Fucking hell, relax OP.

Never heard anything so far fetched before. I think you’re going to need some kind of therapy for anxiety maybe?

Quaver9 · 31/08/2024 17:31

Come on now. Read the infertility forum to help with some perspective.

You are having us on, surely?

Either way I am PMSL at the absurdity.

What proportion of your day is taken up worrying about consequences of your actions on your pregnancy?

You might guess from the replies here, this isn't a concern that comes on the majority of pregnant women's radar. I have previously worked, briefly worked in the petrochemical industry and I risks to pregnancy didn't come up in any of the protocols and there absolutely are chemicals out there that I wouldn't be touching if there was a risk of pregnancy.

Your concern about filling your car with petrol would possibly suggest that your anxiety and fears surrounding pregnancy are possibly straying towards health anxiety and might benefit from treatment. Health anxiety can all consuming and make you feel like normal every day activities are problematic. I was in hospital with a lady in a full panic because there was something wrong with her baby because his chest was going up and down. Her health anxiety made her panic about breathing being wrong. It really can make you believe that it's wrong that the grass is green and the sky is blue. If you are finding your time consumed by fears such that you have posted about here, please do reach out to your GP or midwife for some support. It will be a very long pregnancy and newborn period if this is a sign of health anxiety and it goes unchecked.

Best of luck!

Take a breath OP, you are seriously overthinking thinking this.

I have never heard of issues with filling up a car while pregnant. I can't imagine the fumes from petrol are any more dangerous than the fumes released as you drive the car and the petrol is used.
