Pregnancy Anxietyyyyy

Hello hello. I’m 5w2d pregnant and ended up at the early pregnancy unit due to really bad pain and lightheadedness yesterday. The said they might not see anything on a US but did one to try and rule out ectopic. They saw what they think was a small sac on the US and have taken bloods to check my hcg and will do so again tomorrow.

Here is my anxiety: my symptoms are weird. I have mildly sore boobs, but not all the time. I am tired and want to nap. My digestion is rubbish and I’m very bloated, gassy and have muscle/joint pain that comes and goes.

I have zero morning sickness and nausea, and none of the metallic taste. I don’t have cravings or aversions. It’s throwing me for a loop.

Context - I’m Type2, overweight and have anxiety disorder + ocd of the overthinking and control kind.

Any thoughts would be great. I can’t stop flipping out.

Sounds totally normal. I remember talking to the GP at six weeks saying I just didn't feel pregnant. A week later morning sickness hit me like a bus. Best of luck with your pregnancy. X

Is this your first? I wouldn’t necessarily expect any symptoms at all yet really. Yours sound normal

You are still very early to be experiencing pregnancy symptoms. My first pregnancy I had no nausea at all the whole time and my second pregnancy and this one symptoms didn't kick in until at least 6-7 weeks.

If you have a missed period, a positive pregnancy test and your US looked normal for the gestation you are at then all you can do is ride it out. I have to see the perimental health team for anxiety as well, so I completely get it but pregnancy is one of those things you have no control over. The first trimester is tough but it does get easier.

Ah ok, thank you for this :) riding it out is tough! I may look into the peri mental health stuff!

I’m around 5-6 weeks. I’ve had days where I feel fine and other days where I’m nauseous, tired, bloated, cranky and gassy. My first symptom was my sore boobs and the area around ny nipples I noticed was bigger. Today I feel fine. I get days when they are very sore and other days where they aren’t. The anxiety is real. I’ve an early appointment next week as I’ve had some on and off brown spotting which had me in a panic. They do say if it’s brown it’s usually just old blood and not concerning. I wish you all the best and I’m with you on riding it out is tough. I’ve told no one apart from my husband

I went through two successful pregnancies having none of these symptoms at any time

Try not to overthink if you can, what you have said so far sounds very normal.

You won't see much on a scan until at least 6 weeks, some don't see a heartbeat until 7 weeks+

As for symptoms, my mother had 4 kids and never had any sickness in any of them! In my first pregnancy, I had sore boobs then nothing else until 7 weeks when a load of other symptoms hit at once.

Second pregnancy and sickness worse this time round but still didn't start till about 6 weeks. Had my first proper 'craving' today at almost 10 weeks - currently sitting eating coleslaw straight out the tub'

It's still very, very early

God it's hard isn't it! I just wish I knew everything all the time but that likely would cause more anxiety. I hope your appointment is ok. Go well 💞

Interesting! It's funny how we're so used to seeing certain things associated with pregnancy and it can get to you!

I spent weeks 6-9 feeling the worst ever with my digestion - very mild nausea
come week 9 - I am just tired, I have NO OTHER symptoms and I am like urmm hello - you ok in there? We had an 8 week scan and good baby, strong heart etc

The anxiety is so high but I try to remember that no-ones pregnancies are the same and to trust in my body to do what its essentially designed to do xx
