Periods following miscarriage?

Hi everyone!

does anyone have any advice please regarding when your period should start following a miscarriage? I miscarried last month at 5 weeks and my periods are regular - Aunt Flo should be here but is not judging from the first day of the bleeding. My HCG were low (69) my last blood test so would that mean my period would come around the normal time?

Thanks, I’m feeling anxious and nervous. That was my second pregnancy, the first being a missed ectopic which I needed a laparoscopy and laparotomy so all of this makes my head spin!

It's does vary, I think I was told 4-6 weeks is normal but can be longer. Mine was about 5 weeks after surgical management. It was very heavy and a bit more painful than usual, which again I had been warned about. I'm sorry to hear of your loss and hope you are doing okay.

Hello November23,

Firstly, sorry for your losses. would expect your cycle to return once you are completely negative for HCG so might be worth doing a pregnancy test to see if it is completely stark white and not showing a faint positive. I know this is a horrible thing to have to do, I've been there!
If it is negative then you will hopefully ovulate again shortly and your period should arrive after as per usual. Cycles after miscarriage can be a little bit irregular but hopefully you will be roughly back to your normal cycle soon.
