Safe to see friend who had sick bug a week before?

I’m about 5 week’s pregnant with my first. I’m due to see my friend (who lives in another city) on Saturday. Just found out her and her family had a sick bug this weekend. Would it be safe to see her 6 days after or is it not worth the risk?

Agree, not worth it. Probably fine after that many days but I would wait a bit longer.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I would still go. You can't avoid these things and you could go anywhere and catch a sickness bug.

Nothing is definitely safe! But I wouldn’t even think not to go. You’ll be having contact with multiple people each day who could be ill, unknowingly.

Personally I wouldn't, unless perhaps it's a relatively brief meet in a public location where you won't be hugging or sitting close together, using same bathroom afterwards etc.

I've known sickness bugs spread long after the recommended 48hr period. I also despise getting them and find they knock me back for a while afterwards, which imo would be even worse in pregnancy.

It's also unlikely to do any harm to your pregnancy long term though, so if you are more relaxed about possibly catching a stomach bug than me then you might want to chance it as there's still a pretty good chance you won't get it.

It wouldn't have crossed my mind to even think of this as an issue. You'll be fine.

I’d want specific info about when the last person stopped being sick. Like pp says I’ve known bugs like this passing long after 48hrs. But if it is 6 days since last person was ill, I’d probably go for it with a good friend.

Thanks everyone for your advice! I was forgetting it was bank hol Monday so it will be more like 4 days, so think I will play it safe!
