I just found out I'm 3 weeks pregnant and live in Hemel Hempstead. Don't know anyone who has given birth in the hospitals around me so would appreciate any advice...I've heard Watford isn't too great so I'm thinking about Lister. Anyone had any good/bad experiences?

Congratulations on your pregnancy - I also live in Hemel. Just wanted to say that the community midwives at Hemel Hospital are amazing, and if you book in with Watford you'll be able to have your appointments in Hemel rather than travelling to the hospital which is very convenient. I have had two planned home births and transferred into Watford both times (once before birth, once after) and it's been absolutely fine. Friends in the area have also gone to Stoke Mandeville (all good experiences). There's also Luton, I was booked in there for my first pregnancy before I transferred to be under Watford to I was under the right team for a home birth. I only had a couple of appointments there but....it was a bit grim. I don't know anyone who's gone all the way to Lister from here though - Of course you could also think about a home birth (I highly recommend!) but I appreciate it's early stages.
