Chemical pregnancy help

So I tested and had a vfl at 12dpo (the day AF was due) and tested a couple of times since then but the line didn’t seem to be getting darker. I also did a digital which said 1-2 weeks on 12dpo. Fast forward to 15dpo tested again as I had some tinged cm and the line was there but still faint. I ended up going to the early pregnancy unit as I was having some pains on the left hand side and some brown discharge but they said my test was negative and just said I was probably having a chemical pregnancy. I’ve tested again twice today at 16dpo as I haven’t actually started bleeding properly and now 5 days late, the line is slightly darker and the digital said 1-2 weeks pregnant.

I’m so confused?! I’m still having very watery discharge which is slightly brownish on and off. I know it can take a while for hcg to go down during a chemical but why is the hospital test saying negative but home tests are still positive?! I’m feeling so disheartened and if it isn’t meant to be I wish the bleeding would just start.

I did have on and off bleeding early with my first pregnancy in the early weeks but it started at 6 weeks and the lack of line progression makes me think this time it must be a chemical.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any advice? Thanks!

I'm sorry OP. You would expect a chenicak to be testing negative by now in my experience. Have you had any pain? One sided pain and discharge sounds like ectopic symptoms. I'd call the EPU and see if they will scan you.

Thanks for responding. I started bleeding heavily today and the cramps are there all over so I don't think it's ectopic thankfully. Still gutted but comforted by the fact that my period has started and I can try again next cycle 🤞🏼

Babydust for you're next cycle.. do you mind me asking how many days late you're period was once you started bleeding?

Lilac90 · 25/08/2024 16:38

I'm really sorry for your loss.

I would also take a test to check it's negative afterwards so you can rule out an ectopic.

It was 5 days late in the end - started when it was supposed to finish.

So I've just done an easy@home test and there is still the faintest line barely visible but it is there.

Should I be concerned?

Thank you x I just did a test and had a very very faint line. Not sure whether I should contact the early pregnancy unit as doctors are closed tomorrow. They didn't seem concerned when I went in and essentially dismissed me and any concerns I had as my test with them had come up negative.

I would continue to test every few days the line should continue to fade to nothing it can take up to 2 weeks for hcg to leave the system completely.
As long as youre feeling well and no sudden sharp pain etc I

Lilac90 · 25/08/2024 18:32

If the line has faded already it sounds like it's passing naturally.

I would test again in a few days to make sure the test is negative. Hope you're ok.

fc01 · 25/08/2024 19:17

Thank you both! I'll keep an eye on things and test again in a few days. My cramps aren't unbearable so hopefully nothing too serious. Emotionally I felt ok earlier but I don't think I really had time to process it as I've had guests over the last couple of days and running after my 2 year old. I came across the positive tests earlier this evening that I'd been storing away to show my husband and I feel like it's just hit me properly. I know it's a very very early loss and miscarriages are common but it's my first one (I was lucky enough to get pregnant first time with my only child) and it's so hard not to get carried away when you see that line. I guess I just need time.

I hope you're doing ok. It is a really tough thing to go through so be gentle with yourself.

Have your tests turned negative now?

fc01 · 29/08/2024 11:39

@Lilac90 hey, thanks for checking in. Yes my tests are negative and the bleeding has pretty much stopped although I'm still spotting slightly today. I'm trying to stay hopeful for the next cycle to try again!

Sorry you've had to go through this. I conceived on the next cycle afterwards so could happen for you too Flowers also totally normal if it takes a bit longer too
